Do the yokes (u-joint) have any "proper" alignment?
I mean does it index or degree in any way or do you just put it in. (yeah, I know that sounds dirty, haha.)
My u-joint mod fell through this round of service so I scored an OEM at my local "stealer". Couldn't believe they had one in stock. 80 bucks wasn't bad since I needed it this weekend.
I know the long side goes front but other than that is there any other alignment I need to be aware of?

Thanks Willow. That's what I thought but wanted to ask the pros.
Thanks tank_post142. Actually forgot that I have Dag's factory service manual. (Little too much libation tonight I guess, haha.) Printed everything on rear wheel bearing replacement to go with this 10k service.
Should take care of the slight vibe I've got on decel, I hope.

Let us know if it takes care of that vibration.

My Interstate does have a slight vibraiton if I let off the throttle easy between 80 to a 100mph.

If I let off all at once it does not do the vibe thing at all.

Al, what you describe is indicative of something worn on one end or the other of the drive shaft.  That would be the pinion gear or the U-joint.

I'd check the pinion cup and gear were it mine.

No.

Just a bit of trivia to simplify install of the U-joint.  (as you said long end forward) but if you forget....You have to have the drive shaft out to have the U-joint out.......so.......because the picture in the fishe is hard to make out which end goes where.......just try it on the drive shaft, it only fits one way...the hole that is loose on the drive shaft will be right on the output shaft
