Hey, guys, been a long time since I've posted last...

I have an 2003 Standard, 52K miles.

Starting about a month ago, I'll be doing a normal drive and all of a sudden lose power.  Almost identical to when you forget to turn the petcock on or run out of fuel.  Oh yes, and I have a manual Pingle petcock (not vacuum).

It would sputter and die if I stop and release the throttle.  I can turn it off (key) and back on and it would be as if nothing happened...purring as always.  Or if I'm in a less than perfect place to stop I would just power it up and ride thru the massive power loss with sputtering, etc.  No exhaust cloud though.  Eventually in about a hundred yards or more it would work itself out and return to normal.

I'm wondering if maybe my ignition module may be going.

Any opinions or like occurence out there?

Thanks, Wil

sounds more like the vent line is kinked or plugged. try running it with the gas cap open is it is fine: clear the vent beside the gas cap and insure the vent line on the rear bottom is clear and not kinked.

If you've had your gas tank raised or off recently, the tank's vent hose is kinked.  If not, the vacuum diaphragm in your fuel valve has a hole in it and you need to rebuild it with the cover set 16953-MBZ-B51 or replace the valve with a new one.

Well, isn't that embarrassing!!!  I agree it seemed like a fuel delivery problem, but the vent line was fine up top.  I followed the hose all the way down just now and it was kinked on the bottom clip around the other drain hoses.  A quick pull and all is straight.

Thanks fellas, even us old dogs have a brain fart on occasion!
