Comes in under the fairing and over the tank. Does anyone have fork mounted deflectors that don't interfere with their radiator pods? I have access to some Memphis Shades fork mounts that I plan to use, but so far haven't come up with a wind deflector design that doesn't hit the pods.

I can't tell exactly what you're using, do you have a head-on shot or two? I see you have Baker Air Wings, are they for the I/S or ?? I have a set of them mounted but if I added the deflectors under the outer part of the fairing like your picture shows, they would hit the Bakers. I've been debating about removing the inner triangle section of the Bakers and adding the fairing piece. I need to see your's from the front, what brand are your fork deflectors...or are they homemade?
Thanks.

I use Big Bike Parts/Showchrome fork deflectors and Baker Air Wings on my IS and I do not have any of the problems you mentioned. Before installing the wings and deflectors there was a lot of air coming from below the fairing.
My problem is my shield isn't tall enough, so I get a lot of wind that way.

John, I cut some plastic out of my fork mounted deflectors in order to not hit the pods, and also have the Interstate Baker Air Wings mounted. Your post reminded me that I should put them back on, cause I do love that blast of wind during the hot weather. I'll take a look at them tomorrow, but cutting would be based on exactly where on the forks the deflectors are mounted. I keep the mounting hardware on the forks all year, just remove the deflectors. Bear in mind I'm a bigger fan of what works than of how it looks...

Have you thought about a winged wind deflector mounted on your fairing? You might wanna consider these. They're on the windshield web site that Glenn from Woody's fairings recommends for his fairings. http://www.fastaire.com/Freedom-Wings.htmlThey're kinda like the Dragon wings from Kuryakn except way better looking and not as gawdy or expensive as the Kuryakyn wings. http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/839/AirMaster-Dragon-Wing

Wouldn't the Fastaire hit by Baker Airwings? I like the concept but...looks like without removing the triangle section they'll hit it. I might try Karen's approach, also a fan of "do they work" as opposed to not looking perfect. Heck, with me on the back it already has a less than perfect appearance.

Did the fork think and made very little differance. Does help keep my hat on tho. You need the wings under your fairing. Esp since thats where the wind is coming from. The ones like BF posted are good. I got a set of wing deflectors and it took all my 'in the chest' wind away.

I've got Bakers mounted on my bike......AND I've got a Woodys & the Fastair freedom wings that I've been trying to find the time to mount them since late this summer. Maybe I'll get them mounted soon and then I'll know for sure....I hope.

I have these: http://www.bigbikethings.com/winddeflectors.htmlThey are a remake, more or less, of the Hondaline deflectors. They work well but I have to rotate them forward to avoid hitting the pods. That doesn't seem to reduce their effectiveness, though cutting/grinding them a bit narrower would help. It's been a big improvement not having the wind try to stuff my beard up my nose.

I have the fork mounted wind defectors on mine and it seems to work well. I also have a knock off wind defector mounted and I get no wind coming over tank. Never have been a I/S guy, but yours sure does look sweet. David (Warlock)

With my Interstate, I find that a lot of influence on how the wind affects me is determined on how close I keep my thighs to the gas tank in combination with where I place my feet,, whether on the highway pegs or on the stock pegs.
I have cut my windshield down about three inches lower.

I put the Showchrome fork deflectors on my I/S. It was by far the best inprovement I've done to the bike! Before my head shook so bad at anything over 40mph it gave me a head ache. I also put a Lamanar lip on and it also really helped. I'm 6'4" with a stock windshield, so I look out over the shield (The way I like it)

I used Memphis Shades #MEM 9887 brackets. Cut my own deflectors out of aluminum plate - sculpted up into fairing to help block out as much air as I could - Had painted to match bike. It took care of that air coming up your chest and into your face. Let me know John - got plenty of aluminum plate - Yours would be sculpted different due to fairing difference.

Flask, that looks great. Per our phone conversation, I have the Nat'l. Cycle light bar and have Kury bullet lights hanging down for run/turn. That said, I'd have to cut a semi-circle out to clear them but shouldn't be a big task for Flask. I'll probably meet up with my Titusville bud next week and get the Memphis fork brackets from him, give you a shout following that. That arm that extends out from the clamps...is also part of the Memphis brackets or did you fab those as well? Those do look nice.

Hey Russ, my resident bed warmer would disagree with you. Just this morning I told her I need to lose 25 lbs. so I can see to polish my Sunday shoes. So what did she do....hand me a box of Dulcolax. She's so mean to me!
