That's what you get for saving them in a place where you know you won't lose them!!!

I know exactly where my spare is..............................................................buried somewhere in my saddlebags. That's a likely location...but the question then becomes, "Where the heck are my saddlebags?" (they are not on the bike).

Mine broke once... about ten years ago... I was only a couple of blocks from my house leaving on a week long trip to the mountains, when a strange scraping noise developed on lefthand turns! It quickly became obvious what had happened, so I headed to the Honda shop only a couple of miles away.
No problem, the pimply-faced kid at the parts counter told me... I'll order you one right now. WHAT!!! I explained that that two-dollar part was about to ruin an another epic ride. He then had one of those flashes of brilliance that only come to us once in a great while. Well, he said, if it were me, I'd go down to Busbies (a nearby machine shop) and see if they can weld the part onto the frame... it had broken off so that the threaded piece was still in the hole, but all the rest was caught in the spring end loop.
I did as the unimpressive looking but very impressively resourceful kid had suggested, and the rest is history. Never had another problem. The guy he had told me about at Busbies just welded the remaining part onto the frame right next to the hole where it had been attached. The spring is a tad bit 'firmer' when the kickstand is operated, but not enough to hardly notice. Anyway, in all the miles I've ridden since, and all the times I've parked, I've never had to revisit this nasty little issue...

May do something like that (when I get around to it ). I think I'm on number 4...perhaps 5.
