Fred.  I didn't know that the tire you were running was a 205/65.  Good to know.  Heck, I would have tried it a lot sooner had I known you had run it AND for that long.  We put our DS tires on the same day over at Lyn-Del and Wizard's.  Mine developed that split so I had to replace it.

P.S.   Thanks to Houdini for testing and suggesting the Falken as a viable DS option.

ok, should I have stayed at a Holiday Inn last night before reading all of this??  Because I didn't and now I am not sure if I am suppose to go dark side or if I should start riding a bicycle until I understand all of that.   ???

I know, just tell be what tire to change to when I get ready to go darkside..  That should be easier.

Well Willie,  There are those who like the Goodyear, the Falken, the Bridgestone.the Michelin Hydroedge, the Toyo Proxes, the General, the Continental etc, etc.  Comes down to personal preferences.  I chose my Toyo based on tread design, more flexible sidewall and soft compound rubber. More traction, but less longevity.  Your choice may be for different reasons than mine.  No doubt you'll get many suggestions.  Roll Eyes

If I get over about 85mph two up I get this wining in the headset and my sides start to hurt shortly after that.

Guys, I just took off a Nexen 5000 205/65/16 because it was down into the "wear tread".  It was a great tire and it was not babied.  I replaced it with a Falken Z-512 in 205/65/16 just because Stude 31 has been raving about them for years.  He was correct.  The Falken is the best, hands down IMHO.  Please excuse me for jumping in on your Texas Board, but I am a native born Texan and lived there until I married an Okie, if that helps any...Jim  Grin

Same tire I am running Jim.  Seems the best so far.  You can see what happened to my GYTT up higher in this post.  Just split near the edge of the tread.  Only one I have seen this happen to.

Congrats on ur new tire.

You are welcome on the Texas Board anytime my friend.

Just got off the phone with Lunsford Honda who is fixing up the IS after the crash.  They said that the GY TT had a gash in-line with the tread and said it looked like it was ready to delaminate.  It has 19,000 miles on it.  I will take them my spare wheel with the MT on it to get the bike home.
BUT, I need to find another CT for the Valk.

I have a Kuhmo 195/55/16 Run Flat on the Wing and it is just like Houdini describes this Falken.  So much like a MT it isn't funny.

Hey HayHauler,
Where did ya get ur CT mounted? I called Lundsford about Dynabeads which they had & parts guy said come on down & get beads & have CT mounted. Got there bought the beads & went to service who tells me they had a meeting & decided they don't wanna be responsible for mounting CT's. So if that wasn't bad enough I go to tire shop in Tomball & had to stop monkey with tire truck irons before he did anymore damage to my rear rim. Ended up ay Cycle Shack in Conroe & got CT & Metzler mounted on front rim for $60 with no more damage to rims. What an adventure, needless to say Lundsford lost  any future buisness from me after goin thru that!

There is a private tire place here in Pearland who have mounted both my Kuhmo run flat for the Wing and the Falken for the Valk.  The spoons scratched the Wing rim, but I buffed it out with some 800 grit sand paper and some Mothers aluminum polish.

That is the only problem with running a CT is finding a place not "afraid" to mount them.
