This really burns me up too.  A good friend of mine.  VRCC member and posts sometimes was rear ended ON PURPOSE just an hour or so ago.

Happened on the coast in Navarre.  I didnt get the full details, but seems the pick-up truck driver wasnt happy with the speed Earl was doing.

Apparantly some "youre number ONE" hand signals were exchanged and then road rage set in.  Its a shame

He will be needing a rear fender Green and Cream but any color will do I imagine

Earl didnt get hurt, bike didnt go down, so thats the good news.  And the dude didnt run, so looks like financially it will be taken care of.  Id press felony attempted murder charges, but I really dont know the full story.  We shall see

Im sure Earl will post or respond tomorrowish

I have had a few exchanges-of-unpleasantries with cagers over the years.

In no case do I end up in front of that cage (unless it is a few miles or more).

Pickups are bigger and heavier,...maybe Earl should have motioned the truck to pass him.

I'm glad your friend is O K. cooldude Close encounters like you have just described usually come out way worse as we all are too well aware of. uglystupid2 Before any of us run off on the bad/mad speculation route lets wait to hear from your friend EXACTLY what transpired. coolsmiley Then and only then can we gang up on the pick up driver and really hurt him. Cheesy RIDE SAFE.

If I was done on purpose, that makes it "wonton indangerment," some pretty good charges can go with that if the driver's intentions can be proved.

Was it on Highway 98 Jeff?

If it was, ya'll don't know how bad that stretch of highway can be.  Road rage is the norm.  It's not called "Bloody 98" for nothin'.   tickedoff

If the other guy hit him on purpose it is not an accident and his insurance will most likely NOT pay for any damage. Insurance does not cover damage done on purpose whether it be purposely damaging your own vehicle or property to get  replacement, or purposely damaging the property of someone else. If the other guy's insurance gets a whiff of this thread it may be hard to get them to cooperate. JMO. If he hit him on purpose he needs to pay for his crime, but since it may be hard to prove this thread should go, and I'd consult with an attorney before I did anything else.

Had a close encounter the other day with a Nissan Altima.  He was in the fast lane doing 10 under so I passed him on the right side.  Seconds later he caught up with me, gave me the #1 sign and  merged right into me.  Obviously completely deliberate for absolutely no reason, I didn't blow by him, didn't cut him off, nothing.  He is now missing his side mirror...  Came off the car with less force than I thought it would actually.

I got in front of him and made up some serious ground in a short time so I could exit without being seen.  Went to a gas station just in case he guessed which exit, actually hoping he guessed right.  Once the cage advantage is out of the equation I would've loved to "meet him"...   Angry

Idiots are everywhere, and while I could have braked hard to get out of his way God only knows what he would've tried next.  I'm not justifying punching his mirror off but hell, made me a little happier in some sick way I suppose.
