I took the Victory Vision for a 25 mile test ride a coupla years ago. Don't like the version with the trunk.

If I was to buy a V twin it would be up towards the list of bikes to check again.

I've ridden a few Rockets. To me the riding position was like being readied to give birth. And too much vibration.

Other opinions about both bikes will vary by miles.  cooldude

The Yamaha Venture is my third choice of bikes right after Valk Interstates and third generation Magna's.  I flipped a Harley rider to one several years ago and he is still thanking me for suggesting the bike.

I am currently working a deal for some friends on a used one I found for them.  A friend of mine has the Yamaha Royal which is similar without the fairing or the trunk.  He has over 230k on his about a third of which is pulling his trailer with work tools and he loves it.  That Yamaha V4 is a great motor though it is no Valk.  I had thought of replacing my Magna with a Venture but with my Valk Interstate I really do not need another big bike.

Hey Sheets : don't give up your Valk, buddy !! Get an Interstate if ya wants a bagger!!!
a buddy of mine has an '09 Venture Royal and it's a very nice bike, but he claims it's just too
top heavy for him [he's bigger and stronger then me], especially with baggage and his wife on board.
He has ridden and likes my I/S. He is now in the process of buying an I/S so I guess his Venture will
be up for sale soon. Hope this helps --  rick in NC

Had an 08 Royal Star Venture before I got my Valkyrie. Liked the bike but it was awfully top heavy and had a terrible gear wine about 55 mph. Very comfortable for both driver and passenger. Like my Valkyrie much better.

From my experience, Iv'e owned goldwing 1500, valk interstate, and yamaha venture.
Goldwing - smoothest ride best audio best storage   Perfect for more senior riders
Valk - Great styling amazing power poor audio the stock seat will kill you
Venture - good styling good power most comfortable bike I have ever ridden, fricken gear whine
Oh and the brother in-laws HD Ultra - Great styling comfortable power is very poor

Iv'e owned more bikes than I can remember, just my experience others might disagree.

Had an '08 Venture. I'll second the top-heavy bit. The only bike I keeled over (at slow speed, wife on back). Comfy. Can't get a grasp on the overall reason, but the bike and I just didn't 'take'. Sold it to an older bud and he still loves it. I'm 6'4, 260. He's got bad arthritis. Go figure. Must be all in one's head.
Had several BMW K1200LT bikes. Awesome handling for a tourer. Allegedly top-heavy as well, but I didn't find it nearly as bad as the Venture. High-rev, sporty machine. Better be a wrench, though - support network, like dealerships, few and far between (at least in my area). From what I see, the new Beemer 1600 is really not a replacement for the LT.
Went through some soul-searching myself, last summer when my IS developed troubles on a long trip. Considered alternatives. Rocket3, HD, Kawasaki and even Goldwings. End result - no way. Nothing came close to the Valkyrie's appeal. That's in MY case, anyway - one bike, fair bit of two-up riding (no "stable"; of either bikes or passengers).

Thanks for the input. Had a 1200 GW before the Valk. Had my eye on the Venture back when I acquired the Valk. Drove a hundred miles to test ride a Venture. Got there only to be told he just sold the bike. Went across town and purchased the Valk, without a test ride. I'll be keeping the Valk. Its in pristine condition, such as most, but with her advancing age, the age of most shop mechanics, and availability of some parts she will be relegated to easy living for the rest of her days. My kid is a rider so I can pass it to him one day... or my grandson.  Don't need the biggest-baddest-fastest in the land, only bells and whistles and creature comfort for the wifeunit and me.  Cool

I have freind that I ride frequently with and I think his Venture is a very nice touring bike.  Better than my tourer for long distance, but my Interstate was just as capable as the Venture.  Two thumbs up.   cooldude  cooldude Hoser

The "other" Victory tourer is nice, and it doesn't look like Bozo the Clown     Grin
