As an enthusiastic Valkyrie owner do you ever feel that you are in on a secret that the rest of the cruiser world doesn't know?
I admit that I haven't ridden a lot of different cruisers but when you look at the numbers (weight/HP) and read the reviews comparing it to other bikes (written buy folks who've ridden lots of bikes) it seems like it's still one of the best out there.
FWIW I had the opportunity to sit on a HD Fat Boy and it felt small after being on the Valk. I just thought that was an interesting observation because it's not considered a small bike.

My first ride on a Valk was a few years back when I had a Fatboy. My buddy Matt (the PO of the bike I now own) came for a ride out to Gloucester. About halfway through the ride we stopped at Hammond castle and swapped bikes. You're not imagining things. The Valk felt positively HUGE compared to my FLSTF and that is not a small bike by any measure. However, the sheer dimensions melted away once in motion. Matt also commented on how small the Fatboy felt after being on the Valk.  2funny

Great screen name BTW.  cooldude

I sat on a Road King in a showroom once. Felt like a Shriner on a mini-bike. Just too far forward or something. It was a used bike, so maybe it was lowered or something. I dunno.

I park next to a Road King and a Fat Boy at work alot.  They ARE smaller.  I also park next to a Goldwing sometimes too.  That Goldwing makes my Valk look small.

Before I found and bought my Valk, I looked at alot of bikes.  Didn't test ride that many, but I sat on a bunch.  Sat on just about every Harley they make.  Now don't get me wrong, I like Harleys....alot, but my big ass just didn't feel right on any of them.  They were ALL too small and felt cramped.

The only other bikes that felt like a good fit for me were the Honda VTX1800 and the Kawa Nomad.  I bought the Valk.  I think it was a good choice for me.

I was using a buds C B 750 when my brother threw me the keys to his Valkyrie. cooldude Dats going from a Volkswagen to a Cadillac!! 2funny I know to me at the time i threw a leg over the Valkyrie that it looked from the drivers seat as long as the hood of my Peterbilt. coolsmiley And with my I/S and my fat azz in the seat i'm still trying to figure out what happens to 1100+ pounds when i let the clutch out. Cool I've had mine 17 months and over 18000 miles and i still get goose bumps when i take her out. Wink Unless it gets totaled i'm thinking i won't need another motorsickle long as i'm above ground. crazy2 And yes as Valkyrie owners we ARE in on a secret. Shocked Thing is-lot of folks ain't interested in the truths we take for granted with these dragons of ours. Cheesy RIDE SAFE.

RTaz; I am up for freakin' adoption and I do windows! 2funny That's a beautiful garage! cooldude

Thulsa Doom; You are correct.  Well, perhaps not the best, but I can't think of anything else out there that would bring more joy,
satisfaction and pride of ownership. Cool

IMHO, the 1997-2003 Valk is rapidly becoming a "Cult-Bike."  By definition, in 2012, after 25 years, the 1997 model will become a classic;
so will the 1998 in 2013... and so on. Wink By 2025, Valkyries will be an extremely rare commodity. Cheesy

I live in a city of roughly, 275K people. Here, there are lots of expensive machines of every kind. Lots of shows every weekend.  coolsmiley
Groups of motorcycles travel pass my house on an hourly basis. However, I only know of one other Valkyrie in my city... I've never seen it, though!  ???

On weekends I park the Valk outside. It's amazing how many people pull over just to take a close look at her.
Because it has no tank badges, many ask if it is a stripped-down Gold Wing..." The majority have never seen a Valkyrie.
Many never heard of a Valk! Shocked

Last month, I purchased a beautiful "girly-man's" VTX1800. I've been riding it exclusively for the past three weeks. Slightly faster than the Valkyrie. laugh
Well, yesterday, I took the Valk out for a short ride, just to warm her up before my appointment w/my "Shrink."
However, I could not get off of her. Indeed, I kept riding until I realized that I'd missed the appointment!  uglystupid2

I called the Shrink and told him 'bout my predicament. He laughed and said that he understood. We do talk 'bout motorcycles  all the time.  Smiley
He rides a Boss Hoss (350 CI V8/SB Chevy; rated at 425 HP)! The BH is a MONSTER! Funny though; my Shrink is a 55-year old Indian man.
I'd say he's just 'bout 5'4" tall with huge balls! 2funny

In short, I don't know of ANY motorcycle I'd rather own but a Valkyrie (NOT a Rune)! Roll Eyes Lips Sealed

I like your enthusiasm, but your math may be a bit off.  there are only fifteen years between 1997 and 2012.

The Honda Valkyrie has been well established as a "cult-bike" over the past ten or twelve years.  We're actually slipping away from that a bit as the age of the Valkyrie is causing it to be the target of some buyers just looking for an inexpensive entry into the big cruiser world.  There are still a large number of us, though who are devoted "cultists."

talking about the size, the reason i bought a Harley is because its smaller than the Valk.. that interstate above is the best looking bike on the planet!!

both bikes weigh the same but i sit lower to the ground on the Harley and I feel more confident on it,,

Sort of.
I rode every kind of bike that I could find before running across the Valkyrie. I was looking for a smooth, powerful bike that would tote 2 people in comfort. Everything I tried didn't pass the test.
Even bought a Rocket 3 a couple of years later still looking for the cruiser holy grail. Sold it & bought the wife her own Valk. Still miss the awesome power of the R3 but the Valkyrie still has it overall for me. cooldude Figured I had already had the cruiser holy grail in the garage.
I guess we {Valk-a-holics} could be guilty of being somewhat cult-ish. A lot of my friends who ride bikes made by an American owned company don't understand my devotion to the Valk. They don't give any other bike brand much of a look anyways so I don't value their opinion much.  Roll Eyes
I'm really not brand loyal, if any other company comes out with a bike that meets my standards better than the Valkyrie I would buy it.
But to date, none have!  Shocked
