I worked in a place were they hired this kid, fresh out of technical college as a designer.  He was working in the shop, 'cause the boss wanted him to get a feel for the business.  he was told to get a hammer and pound out something, don't know what, but this kid didn't know how to use a hammer!  Seriously!  had no clue on what to do with it!

you can't blame the kids though.  some of them don't have a father, others don't know who their father was.  most of the schools now a days don't care to teach kids anything, just pass them through to the next grade.  even then, kids have to take 7 to 8 classes in highschool, per day!  unless they have the ability to double up their shop class with a homeroom, they don't get enough time in the classroom to learn anything.  when i was going to school, we had 4, 90 minute classes.  believe me, if you've got a shop class, or anything like that you need that much time to get your project together!!  today, the teachers barely have enough time to shut the kids up, then it's the end of the class!

It’s up to the parents to make sure the kids have SOME type of education in common sense.  That’s something a school teacher can’t teach.
