It's a common problem. Darn things can't find a direct route to home!

It is called Valkitis. Hopefully, there is never going to be a cure. Just learn to live with it . It effects many, so you are not alone. I went to fuel up the other day and when I got back, I needed fuel again.

Long time ago i fueled up before i went to work on my C B 500-4. From work to house about 25 miles. When i left work rode for awhile fueled up again and about 325 miles later i got home. I do not think this is unique to the Valkyries but our fat girls sometimes do not wanna come home. Learn to live with it. I will give you this word of advice though-you can follow this or chose to ignore at YOUR peril. When you go to where your Valkyrie is parked and you throw a leg over her and fire her up make absolute positive sure you have a good wad of cash with you or your plastic. Having fun on these dragons ain't free. Gots ta have money fer gas and sandwiches sodas barley water and coffee and whatever else you like that i didn't mention!! They ARE addictive. Enjoy and RIDE SAFE.

When I worked, it was 7 miles and took 12-15 minutes to get there. It usually took at least a full tank or more to get home!

You don't got a microwave oven? Prioritys you have to go with whats important. That is why they invented handi marts or quick marts or minute marts or what ever ya call em where yer from. They be proud to sell ya a sandwich and a soda or a coffee or sumpin. Hot home cooked meals are highly overated. But i'm an ex trucker and an ex airedale squid. RIDE SAFE.

I thought that's why they invented Hooters.. (the restaurant)...so you don't have to eat cold supper that is.

A while back American Motorcyclist Magazine (the AMA magazine) had an issue almost totally devoted to why we ride motorcycles. In this issue, Andy Goldfine, founder of Aerostich and "Ride to Work Day" had his list of reasons to ride a motorcycle. He left out one of the best reasons...to take the long way home! I don't know if this has ever happened to anyone here, but I sometimes find myself where I can't wait to go to work in the morning just so I can ride my bike!

When I rode the bike to work, I always made sure I had a full tank of fuel when I left home for the 42 miles to work, cause if i didn't have a full tank, I could of been in deep pooh dodo in some of the remote places I encountered on the way home.
Hot meals were not a problem for me in the later years. Mom worked from 2:30 to 11:00 PM. She wasn't home anyway and most of the kids were grown and could fend for themselves like I did for food.
In our house, if you couldn't cook, you damn well better have some $$$$ in your pocket to buy supper. Had 3 girls and 2 boys. The boys could cook just as good or better than their sisters. NO ONE beat mom's cooking however. She also always had sufficient supplies in the freezer or fridge to fix a meal for yourself. She still works those hours at the US Postal Service, and I still haven't lost my knack of fixing a fairly decent meal. She hasn't decided when she will retire. Buying for all the grandkids is expensive, and she spends a lot of $$$$ on them. She earned it, so why should I care?
In fact tonight I fixed a couple of stuffed pork chops, a couple sweet taters and can of peas for my supper. Had enough left over mom has something she can take to work tomorrow for lunch. She works tomorrow and then has 9 days off. We were going to go on a short excursion, but the motor home we wanted to rent didn't get returned as scheduled. It is still on its way back from way down South in Mea-he-ko. Figured with a motor home, little one, I could load my O2 equipment in and run the generator all the time to keep it supplied with 120V plug ins. Also, that way I can recharge my little portable tanks like I do at home. Would also give me juice for my C-Pap at night.
Oh well, we might try it at Christmas and over New Years. If it works pretty good, I'll try to do the same thing for InZane. I'll steal my son's little scooter to run from the camp ground to Ground Zero. As a USMC lad in the early 50's, I learned also how to improvise.
