I spoke with my ocologist today.

I've known for the last six months.....longer really....that I wasn't going to get well.  But I've always been a fighter.  I've fought this for over seven years and now I have to decide whether to continue treatment or not.

It's only buying time at this point and I just don't know if I can do this anymore.

Oh well...

And so it goes....

Well, there's no shame in choosing to end "treatment". I mean it's easy for a healthy person like myself to say "don't give up" and all of the other predictable responses but only you know what you've been through and how much fight you've got left. I've seen cancer treatment and it's far from easy.

The best of all things await you in the clearing at the end of the path.

It was an honor to ride with you at the Veteran's Ride.  My Mom made a decision after battling cancer for around 15 years, through breast, bone, and finally liver.  Remember, your friends have your back.

That talk we had on The Dragon a couple years ago has crossed my mind so many times since . You have earned my respect with the courageous fight you have battled cancer with.Wish I had some cool crap to say right now however I have nothing. It's your call alone ....We need to hook up soon for a ride.

Thumper I have great empathy with you on this, I may be making that decision in Janurary.  Right now I am resolved to keep up the good fight, I have a great team of prayer wariors behind me, and think the resolve to keep going.  Whatever you decide pray about it, and know whatever you decide will be right for you.  My best advice would be enjoy to the best of your ability whatever time you have.  There are no guarantees on healthy people and much less for folks like us, so attitude maybe the best medicine.  Jusy know for sure you are not alone.

There was a short time immediately after my surgery when I felt it wasn't worth it, but in retrospect it was. A very personal decision for you to make. Miracles still happen, hope is constant while faith wavers. Prayers and hope whatever you decide.

Paul, brother, I wish there was some easy answer or words of wisdom I could say to help you out, but there are none.  Just know that we all love you and are praying for you, and we'll back whatever decision you make.  You have earned the respect and admiration of many of us through your fight.  God bless you, brother!

Bless you Sir. The end comes for all of us, we just do not know when and how. All we can do in the meantime is celebrate life and all its joys.

Keep checking off all those things on that bucket list, we dont know when the
last day is but we can control how we live each of those days

I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts as since I learned of your fight

With the help of the Lord and your friends and your own resolve may
you get to do all those things your heart desires over the coming years

Nobody can second guess you and this group has great respect for you
and your decision

You have made  and will continue to make that dash between the beginning and the end count for
something thumper, its what you are.     Best of luck for you always

Thumper, It was an honor to ride with you!  Know that you will receive many prayers from your brothers here.  I remember being at the end of my rope once long ago.  I looked up and told God I had done all I could do; it was up to Him as to whether I would continue to live or die.  I laid my head back never expecting to see another tomorrow.  Whatever decision you make will be OK with us and with Him.  Peace be with you my friend.  Lets ride together again!

Sorry to hear that Paul. When one meditates on the briefness of life it leads you to live each day to it's fulness. I have witness this in you my friend. Our prayers are with you.

I wish I knew what to say. You're in my prayers and I hope for the best for you. I don't know your condition or circumstance, but I'm not sure that discontinuing treatment is the same thing as giving up. In my case, I'm fortunate that with the removal of a single organ, I'm cancer free. But the kind I had was very aggressive and doesn't respond well to chemo or radiation. In a choice between almost a year of good active living, or a time of a few months longer deathly sick and hurting from the radiation, poison, and cutting, I was leaning toward the active living.
Deciding to live what life you have left is not giving up.
What ever you decide, I pray for peace for you and your family.

I can't begin to imagine what you are going through.  I'm sure what ever your decision it will be the right one for you.  If I were in your position, I don't know what I would choose.  Best wishes, and go for a ride with Joe.
