Doesn't make any sense either: 1. Hands a huge competitive advantage to other companies 2. Conflicts with safety or security enhancements, which would actually reduce likelihood or severity of a claim... In short, as Mad as a Box of Frogs.

Isint Britain like a whole different country on the other side of the ocean........I dont think its going to catch on over here. And the definition of modification seems scary. If a K&N filter is deemed a modification then there wouldnt be a vehicle on the road that would pass the three mod test.
I would think a reasonable definition would be a modofication of "base vehicle" construction or performance. Like bigger motor, blower, custom suspension or lowering raising kits, maybe even exhausts I can see. But
Chrome covers, air filters, oil filters, seats, tires, hand grips, mirrors....yes you can change them, but its essentially the same thing. Not really a modification

According to Bennetts they can't/won't/don't want to insure me. I have 8 stickers on my windshield road pegs on the crash bars 2 American flags on the trunk a red white and blue ribbon from my latest 9-11 ride a car tire 4 little chrome skulls on the licsense plate a backrest and a sheepskin on the seat. I'm led to think i'm too frikin dangerous for English roads. My insurance carrier up to this point in time is happy as long as it passes inspection and i can get it tagged i'm good to go. I hope and pray they DO NOT have an American subsidiary. You hear stuff like this and it truly does give a new meaning to cranial rectal inversion. RIDE SAFE.

I don't understand ???
Unless perhaps they're over extended in the motorcycle market, and need to cut back? Maybe in the UK you can't just start canceling policies willy-nilly(??)

Chris you'd be surprised at the stupidity that happens in Europe only to be seen here later in the USA. Examples. A few years ago the English started charging homeowners for water running off there property during ran fall. The city where I live has just started charging homeowners for water run off from their sidewalks. The English started charging people for having too much refuse in their weekly trash collection. Bins fitted with microchips. There's a city in Oregon that has started doing the same. Many more examples from business and government too numerous to list. Oh one more. If you live on a river or have a lake and take water from it. You have to have a water meter and pay for the water. Includes private wells. Give it time and all this will become commonplace here in the USA.

The English started charging people for having too much refuse in their weekly trash collection. Bins fitted with microchips. They absolutely should do that. Why should everyone else foot the bill for people who consume too cursed much? There's a city in Oregon that has started doing the same. Actually many places in America don't have curbside at all. We pay for our own trash collection, a flat monthly rate. The only requirement is that it be bagged. If you live on a river or have a lake and take water from it. You have to have a water meter and pay for the water. Includes private wells. Just because the water is coming from your well does not mean it came from your land.
DRAAAAAAAINAGE ELI, YOU BOY!

If you consume in excess then you will take groundwater from surrounding aquifer so there may very well be a legitimate cause to charge people for using their own wells if they're actually getting water from surrounding land. For instance, that great big aquifer in the heartland is being depleted at an alarming rate and it's affecting wells far beyond the boundary of farmlands.

This British Insurance co. would flip over my riding buddy's Harley. He paid $15k for a used (2007) bike. He had a perticular model he wanted (and I can understand that.) Then another $15k spent on wheels, front end, chrome thingies, custom paint and whatnot. Then after I smoked his a$$ in a race, he bought a "stage-4" kit for another $5k.
Altogether, $35k tied up. The insurance company required receipts and pictures. They were good with that. I have no idea what his premiums run.
By the way, his last bike was stolen, with the trailer it was riding on. That was this year, comming home from Sturgis. Although he had similar money invested in that one, the way the policy was written, he only got to claim $6k over blue book for a bike with a lot of custom accessories.

The only thing I can think of is that they are actually trying to lose buiness (perhaps finding it unprofitable?) Can't see it working in the USA - aftermarket is huge there and also, as has been said, loads of competition. Can't see the American Psyche going for this either - its just so totally Un-American in spirit.... freedom and freedom of choice in particular. Er, and you guys carry guns... Sounds postively Stalinist to me.
