After finishing my bi-annual "good" house cleaning TxDeb called and asked me to start boiling the potatos for my assignment for Thanksgiving dinner mashed potatos. I guess she thought I couldn't screw up boiling water, WRONG. As the water started to boil over onto my freshly cleaned stove I put the lid on to stop the boilover noticing the lid didn't fit quite right and I couldn't get back off. No worries, I'll just let it cook and then run cold water over it to cool so I can get the lid off. Cool, chores done and I can kick back for a while. Took about five steps away and BOOM. Omg water and potatos everywhere, dripping off the ceiling, missing ceiling paint from the lid about twelve feet up, spud water on all the furniture. Btw what I'm really thankful for is walking away from that pot five seconds earlier. A hospital trip without doubt. When I turned the ceiling fan on, more spud water slung across the room

did you know you can get a 8 pound roast through that little hole in the top of a pressure cooker? as it cooked the roast swelled and plugged the hole for the regulator, pressure builds up like in your potato pot,, we peeled roast off the ceiling for a year,,,

A good man knows his limitations. When it starts to boil over, you do not cover the pot to keep the water in. (physics 101) Instead, reach down and turn the heat off or way down..............THEN put the cover on with heat set to simmer..... for awhile, till done. I suggest you never leave the kitchen with anything cooking....... but sammitches.
