Why would anyone shave a cow like that?

When I left Cheaha, I tried to drop south to avoid the nasties coming in from the west.  I was planning on following Warlock's route but stayed on 49 instead to drop south.  I took 49 from the mountain all the way down to I-85 (35 miles west of Montgomery, Al).  49 is a sweet road.  Good sweepers and good condition and no traffic on a sunday - very nice road.

Anyway, when I was cruising through Montgomery, Alabama, I saw a sign that said, "First Confederate White House".  Heck, it was a Sunday, so no traffic in downtown, I peeled off and checked out downtown Montgomery - very cool.

Anyway, this is the first Confederate White House under Jefferson Davis.

Something I saw - along the way.  cooldude

Might have to put a guard on it... there's a city councilman down in Auburn that's been going around
desecrating the graves of Confederate soldiers. He yanked a flag from a grave right in front
the great-granddaughter of the soldier and broke it to pieces...

google "auburn city councilman confederate" to see news stories... try not to let your blood
boil when you run into stories about people who support the councilman...

Strider,
Is that right on the road there in Montgomery? Downtown? I think I saw that from the road once and didn't have time to stop and snap a pic myself. I was following a local at the time that was driving ahead trying to help me find my way out of Montgomery.
Have I seen that? I'll have to confer with my wife/passneger.

it's in downtown.....right next to the Capital....NOT...on a main road. If you saw the Capital and all the state flags on one side of the road...and were on a SMALLER downtown road (in "deep" downtown)...you may have indeed seen it?

I was fairly deep downtown. I don't remember seeing the state capital...but I was trying not to lose the local I was following. The interstate had been shut down because of a tanker spill and we were re-routed through town. I became lost in a neighborhood where I didn't want to be lost. I sent my wife in to a gas station to ask for directions while I sat with the bike. She came back with a local who said, "you can't get there from here," and "follow me and I'll show you."
Didn't think about Hank Williams grave.
Okay. I'm going to have to put that on the to-do list to go visit the Capital of Confederacy and Hank and make sure I've seen it and its seen me next time.
Thanks.
