Will the Featured Photo ever be updated again? Looks like it stopped in Nov. of 2009. Any chance that we will see more recent pictures on the home page?

You may want to change your browser setting to refresh the web page.

The featured photo on the homepage changes randomly each time you bring up the page.

How do you submit a photo for consideration in for the feature photo?

The picture does change but they all seem to be from Nov 2009. I see the same 10 or 12 pictures over and over. Surely, there have been more pictures submitted.

When I click on  'Album source for picture'  underneath the current picture, this is what is displayed:

Home > Photo of the Day > Year 2009 Featured Photos > November

Are the pictures that are displayed recent pictures or from 2009?

To answer questions about the featured photo's....

There are a couple of reasons why they haven't been updated. The first, and I'll get it out of the way.....is that I haven't taken the time to update the featured photo's.  It takes a lot of time that I haven't had, and its a pain in the rear.  For that, I appologize....I should have done better.

The other reason is it is really difficult to come up with photo's to feature.  I have a pretty high standard when it comes pictures we feature on the website.  Maybe I shouldn't, but I do.  You might have a beautiful Valkyrie, but taking a picture of it in front of your wife's minivan is probably not going to get your photo featured.  There are some common themes I run into when people send in pics.  Lots of folks send a picture of their bike after new paint/accessory install/washnwax etc.  The problem is that picture is taken in their cluttered,  up garage with really bad lighting. The bike looks great, but the photo is not.  Another would be pictures taken on a ride with all your buddies.  A cool Valkyrie mixed in with 10 other bikes(brands) does not make a great photo for the website.   Lets see....how about the ones where you have a beautiful backdrop in the mountains, but you leave your helmet, jacket, and wifes purse hanging of the bike when you take the picture?  Camera phone pics?  Not so good.

My all time favorite, was the guy who took a picture with his blackberry.  It would have been a good shot, as it was well composed and had a nice backdrop....but the camera on the blackberry left the shot grainy, and the whitebalance was off.  But the best part is, he emailed it to himself, made it the wallpaper on this computer.  THEN he took a picture of the computer monitor with his blackberry, and emailed THAT picture in for a featured photo. Notice the top of the pic below:

I'm in the process of going through pics I have right now and I'll try to get some new photo's uploaded soon....

In the meantime, feel free to send us more pics: vrccstaff@gmail.com
