I pulled the rear wheel on tuesday as I was selling the wheel set to a member from Kentucky (carl1up).
The first thing I noticed was the grease used to lube the axle, splines, and thrust washer was that the grease looked like "white lithium" grease.

I was so surprised that the splines (male and female) looked perfect.
Has anyone else used this type of grease with any success?

I've been using Guard Dog 525 and have not had any issues, yet another member here in MI says it seemed to wash out. He believes that lithium grease is a superior lubricant.

Has anyone on this board used lithium grease?

It may be krytox, the high dollar better than moly paste, its white, and appears a bit runny, more white than white lithium if you ask me, white lithium has a yellowish tinge to it

I use good ole waterproof front wheel bearing grease in MGM.

I tried that crap Honda suggested the 1st tire change.   Never used it again.  Replacement tire had 6,500 miles on in Ut, when it expired.

Only thing in town was a Harley shop to help me out.    He asked what that sheet was in there, told him, he walked over to his bench and said, try this you will never go back.

He was right, I've never used anything else since then.   On the road I always carried a tub of it in my saddlebag.   Used some out of it a few times.   Especially on my Alaska trip.

Got a few pictures of a set of 98 wheels that I had Satin Black Powdercoated, and added new bearings, newer wheel dampers, Dyna Beads, Metzlers and "Patchboy" air valves.

That's what I use. Every time I have to take the wheel off for a tire change, the splines are still covered in grease and still look new with over 100K miles.
