I think I read everything by ERB.  I enjoyed the two books about the Apache Indian best.  Been years ago when I was a youngun that I read them.  My english teacher took my "Mad King" book.  Didn't like me reading in english class.  Go figure.

Disney doing John Carter????? Alot of the battle scenes in the book had thousands killed... how they gonna clean that up? Already know that the "Flyers" in the trailer look nothing like the descriptions in the books, and early illustrations .......  They're gonna screw it up... I have all 11 John Carters by ERB and replacing on my Ereader as I can....... Good way to kill a couple of hours when I can ride, So I kinda biased anyway, But I still hope it turns out cool- they have been talking about a John Carte feature for years-

Peter Jackson kept to the LOTR story and Tolkiens illustrations and descriptions for the most part and was one of the best adaptations of a classic book..... when will Hollywood learn...... Although, I did really like the last Sherlock Holmes and looking forward to the next. Now that they have CGI... Alot of the classics could be done right.... and not look like an MTV video

Don't F*&% up something thats already good...... And Millions of people have read.

I also worry about Disney's version of this series of stories.  I have doubts that Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins can carry off John Carter and Dejah Thoris.  Kitsch is simply too young and fresh to be a mid-30's experienced soldier.  Collins is pretty, but can she be the "incomparable" Dejah Thoris?  The actress who takes this role has to be absolutely striking AND fierce.  Kitsch and Collins:

I think Hugh Jackman is a little old for the role of John Carter, but otherwise a better choice, or perhaps Anson Mount, currently in AMC's Hell on Wheels:

For Dejah Thoris, How about Rosario Dawson, Kristin Kreuk, or perhaps Indian actress Aishwarya Rai

My Burrough fan friends have been excited about this one for a while now. I will also point out that a Princess of Mars comic book series is currently running too if you need a multi genre Burrough fix.

Rosario Dawson, that rooftop dancing scene from Clerks II is pure magic.
