2014 Valkyrie 1800

Seminole, Florida

« on: December 05, 2011, 03:11:11 AM »

We ran into 5 Valkyries yesterday at differant stops throughout the day. Yellow/Cream, Red/Black, Black, Black & Blue custom paint, Green/Silver Interstate.
Not one of the riders ever heard of the VRCC. After speaking with them, all they new about their bikes was the name Valkyrie. One couldn't even pronounce it ???
I was dissapointed, tried to point them in the right direction, tell them a little about their bikes and give them this web-site. If we find them poking around here let's give them a warm welcome. They are all from various locations on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

You'll probably find a lot of that... My brother had my Valk before me and didn't know about the VRCC... of course, ... He didn't know about the internet either... Shocked cooldude  Matter of fact... after he got back from Vietnam, he got so pissed off at AT&T that he NEVER got a phone again...  tickedoff  He was certainly set in his ways... But he rode the best bike he could find...

I find a lot of folks here in Orlando area that have never heard of the VRCC or the Florida board. The Florida board has been so quiet lately it would be nice to get some new members to get on the board. I found the VRCC by searching when I was looking to get my Valk. Thanks Doug for spreading the word.

the pronunciation thing is irrelevent,, some say Valkyrie with a long a and some with a short a that sounds like volk,, either way is correct depending on where you come from,,,

My mother's first language was Norwegian and she pronounced it with with the emphasis on the second sylable similar to the above val-KEER-ee.  http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php?topic=6220.0

Not absolutely sure about this, but I think that is actually the correct way to pronounce it, at least before it became a name of a motorcycle.

I told a guy I rode a Valkyrie and his girlfriend said: "I thought you pronounced it Victory."

I meet Valk riders all the time that have not heard of the VRCC.  I made up business cards to give them with my contact info and VRCC website.
