Regardless of the brand of choice.  Theres just something purty about a brand new tire on a Valkyrie.  Begging to be broke in, wanting real bad to have those nipples from the mold worn off.  Its the only time the rubber that meets the road is that shiney....must be careful scuffing it in but still lookin good  cooldude

I may have gotten the last set at the Fort Walton Honda shop at the $330 both tires mounted and balanced.  They said next time expect to pay $50 or so more.  Dang, well that may end my involvement with the local stealer.

Have you thought of uisng Shinko tires?

I'm on my second set on the ST1300 and very pleased with them.

Good grip wet and dry.

A friend of mine uses them and likes them too....but only gets 8-10K miles on a set..........I cant live with that few miles.  So its cheap but you have to change them twice as often........Id rather pay more and get 22-24K Thats just me

Thinking about taking some sand paper to the rear tire after install this weekend. It's the most prone to slipping, after all. anyone do this with a new tire?

I've been down for near a month waiting for parts, and it's gonna be wet Saturday, So I think I'll hit the sides a little bit. I dont care if the sky opens up and dumps on me, I'm riding! cooldude

Finally got out to scrub the new tire in.  39° this morning when I left the house.  I love when I need ALL the leather, Came back did some work and then went for another ride just now.  That tire is smooth and it balanced without any weights.  I even called back to the shop and had the mechanic confirm that it didnt need any weights.  He said one in 25 or so balances like that.  Well, hopefully that means its a goodun!!  Valkyries run so much better when they have new tires, fresh wax and cold air to ride in........

Jimmyt, I just put my first Falken 512 on and I can readily see why Stude 31 is always doing s-turns while going down the highway.  I'm loving it and I bet you are too...Jim  Grin

Yes sir!!  I love it and only have about 100 miles on it so far.  The sidewall seemed to be a bit softer than the GYTT I had on before, but it is stable up to about 105 (110 indicated).  I have about 3 ounces of Dynabeads in it, maybe a little more.  I spilled them on the floor and might have replaced more than spilled.  Who knows.  But, it does ride real nice.

Lemme know what kind of pressure you are running.  I have 42 in mine so far and I think I like this pressure.
