Here is another stupid idea.And with our tax money.The US[Obama] plans to use foreign aid to promote gay rights in foreign countrys.What a waste of our money.Why not use that money here to support our poor an homeless children .This gubermt is screwed up.who gives a s-it what goes on overseas.Fix the country first then help others later

FWIW, I am not a supporter of foreign aid of any kind so long as this country is in debt.

Cut off ALL foreign aid NOW. It is really very simple we can not AFFORD it anymore!! I like some things that may or may not be good for me. Chips beer good whiskey eating out at a good pizza resturant and stuff like that there. My point you ask?? when i CAN'T afford it i DON'T do it. I guess the reason it will NEVER catch on with our politicos is because it is too frikkin EASY!! We as a nation can NO longer afford foreign aid. stop quit don't do it cease and desist quit writing the checks close the foreign aid bank-NOW. Sooo simple. Rant off-fer now. RIDE SAFE.

I agree Art. I think the money should be spent at home first too. I think the point I was driving at was that there's a certain element that will complain no matter how you spend it. But there's no doubt that charity begins at home.

For instance, those people living under bridges are in imminent danger of being crushed by them when they collapse from neglect.

I agree that all aid should be cut off and take care of the United States First since we are in debt up to our ears.... But I also think that if we stop givng all these benefits to illegals ( undocumented ) that they would stop coming here. This also goes for people who abuse the welfare system and so on and so on......

I'm not sure they'd bring Bin Laden to us (because the aid they've been getting is a result of the "war on terror") but I'm thinking something like a 100 billion dollar reward would have been enough to bring his ass in. Even a half a trillion would have been a bargain compared to what we've spent on these wars.

You're right about the rest of it though. We give boatloads of money to countries who are very poor allies of ours. I'm not naive enough to think that we could actually ever cut off all foreign aid completely, but there's no justification for aiding a country that actively works against our interests.

In other news; the situation in Afghanistan is deteriorating yet further. We need to gtfo of that lost cause.

I'm glad to see that you agree.  Those foreign companies take our tax dollars and build assembly plants here to assemble parts made overseas.  Just think of how many japanese workers it takes to make a component (like say a front axle) compared to two workers to bolt it on a vehicle.  It doesn't come close.  By the way, our tax dollars come back here when the now wealthy japanese come back here to buy our classic cars, motorcycles, land, corporations, etc.

If you really think my reply agrees with yours then you have my sympathy. ( Where IS that
sarcasm font?) Let's just say that the U.S. government is stupid enough to follow your
suggestion.....well, the current administration just might be...but let's not talk about that.
Stop any and all incentives to Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, etc. They are corporations that
make/sell products in order to make a profit on their investment. If it's no longer profitable to
make products here they'll simply pack up and go somewhere else. I'm sure that you'd be overjoyed
by that, but what about the few million Americans that would suddenly be unemployed? Ever
think about them? They would no longer be paying taxes, so the govt would have to raise taxes
elsewhere. The liberals would raise taxes on the companies that are left until...guess what...it's no
longer profitable for THEM to stay here. Think how much parts for your harley would be after they
raise the import tax!! It's obvious from your posts that you are a racist, mainly against Japanese
and/or Orientals, but that's your problem. I'm through with this thread because I'm not going to
say anything that would change your mind and you're SURE not going to say anything that would
lead me to believe you're right. So why waste time discussing it?

"Foreign Aid" is a pretty broad term. Are tax breaks designed to entice foreign companies to bring manufacturing into the US "foreign aid"? I suppose you could argue that it is. But that's not really what I think of when I think of the kind of foreign aid that needs to be done away with. I'm talking about direct cash outlays. Britain and Israel I can sort of understand, but why do we give Pakistan a dime? Why are we spending billions rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan?
