I have been seeing more exhaust turn outs here of late, (or noticing them more) and I would like to get a pair I think.

I noticed in a post today of unrelated that someone had some stock pipes that only had the last 8 inches or whatever it is swapped out for turn outs, and they where held on with what looked to be the stock mounting screws.

Where are these being bought, or what are they coming off of, and what do I need to look for?

Thanks!

Here.....

You'll have to drill your own mounting holes.

I have them on my bike and so does Mr. Bubbles here in Texas.  I am going to do what he did and cut about 3/4 to one inch off of the ends.  They rub before the pegs do and I don't like that.  If you look closely at the left pipe, you can see that it is ground flat on the bottom.  I still like them, but will cut them shorter so they don't scrape the ground/roadway.

jimmyt....BEAUTIFUL BIKE.  by the way...looking at the picture that you posted, it appears that you have taken off the muffler heat shields that were under your saddlebags.  Am i right, or am i just not seeing them?  thanks, john.

Im thinking about getting a pair of those, and leaving my piggies alone.  i think it would still sound good, still be quiet, and i think those big pipes look amazing!

i like the look of both the straight pipes an the turn outs.  I just wish there was a rolled or machined edge on the end of the straight pipes..

Mine came with the bike, so I am not sure of the brand or where they came from. They are 4" and have a slot cut on the end where they slide onto the muffler. They just slip on tight and the other end has a hole drilled and is bolted to the heat shields to keep them on. I'm not really into dragging parts but they do have flat spots on the bottom from the PO.

If you want to finish off straight pipes you could use these tips from Grumpy's.

I had them as turn downs on MGM before I got the Vikings.   The sound hit the pavement and came back up.  No liked that, so went with the Weed Burners, or Turn Outs.

I got them at a Truck stop who dealt in chrome for over the road trucks.

They were the top extension of the side stacks.

You had to drill them to match the screw holes on the cannister.

Turn outs as you call them we called WEED BURNERS in my old Gold Wing Days.

You do have to watch them when backing into a curb to park, they will give a bang and let ya know you hit the curb with the tip.

Here's a shot of his tips on a set of 4 x 18' stacks. I loved the way it finishes the pipes off. Nice work, Grumpy's 1 rate to deal with, Nice guy.

Yes, they were missing in that picture, but I had them at home, because I painted them before I put them back on.  I had just picked up the bike from the dealer and was on the way home.  Stopped at Target to shoot some pics of the new paint.

Jimmy since I cut the turn out down some I 've yet to hit them while turning or entering or exiting a drive. I just used a sharp hacksaw and took my time and sliced off about 3/4s on an inch.  Still running straight out of the collector  and not tooo loud most of the time.
