You should do all the normal maintenance, change oil and filter, check the air cleaner, service the drive train, antifreeze, brake fluid, etc.  Here is a link to get you started.  replace the alternator if it don't work, plug wires don't usually require replacement.  Here is something to get you started.  Hoser  Smiley

if it runs well leave it alone, except to follow service as outlined in manuals.  shop for parts in advance, you know you will need them some day.  Your valk will last seemingly forever if you maintain it properly.

that is my advice.  good luck.  ride safe.

As far as the alternator......you can just ingnore it until it quits......where will you be?

Or, you can open it up every 50-60 thousand miles to check/replace brushes and blow out the dust.  Makes them last a whole lot longer.  After I got near 100K miles I needed (for piece of mind) to add a volt meter on the bike.  Engine off it shows me battery charge and engine running it shows me alternator output.  If the battery starts showing much less than 13V while off I replace it.  If the alternator ever shows much less than 14V running Ill fix or replace it, but hopefully that reduces my chances of being surprised while on the road.

I bought a rebuilt alternator a couple years ago, when my original goes bad (94000 miles),  I will put it in and take my time rebuilding the old one.  (I hate down time.)   BTW, mine is still showing 14 volts on test. I'm on my 2nd battery, also have a new one on the shelf to activate and install when I need it. Hoser  cooldude
