I was just looking again for a Valk std/tourer brake light, so when I get an IS again I can add it on. This time I found a lens that said it was for a Valk, but also a lot of other Honda mc. The ebay add shows the box, and you can read them easily. ebay adHere is an ad for an Areo, good all around pictures. Aero brack light housingDoes anyone know if these complete assemblies from these othere bikes are compatible with the Valks, or just the lens? Only problem with asking this question is that if there are compatible, then the prices will go up with all the Valk owners buying them for their IS's.

It is my understanding that while the std/tourer tail lite lens is identical to the Aero/ShadowSabre/etc lens, the hardware to mount to the fender is not identical. Some have written they made it work with some modification. The complete parts list to add the assembly to an IS (new from HDL) is about $125.
I can give you the parts list if you want it. I did this on my IS.

I added a Standard/Tourer taillight to my I/S as well. I bought a used one on Ebay. If the chrome is good the lens can be polished with plastic windshield polish and look like new. Then I bought a Radiantz LED taillight also on Ebay for a lot less than the 120.00 (give or take) that they usually go for. I left the red lens on and the Radiantz LEDs are still very bright.

Yep, I added an LED array to replace the 1157 bulb, and kept the red lens (don't care for clear or smoked).
The neat thing about adding the Std taillight with an LED array to an interstate is that the lens/light is always in the shade up under the trunk. A lot of LEDs fade out in bright sunlight.

I like the idea of extra brake lights, which is why I want this mod for the IS. Then there is also the GW lights for on top of the trunk.
There is also the trunk light mods I would like to do (turn signal), but I haven't seen any in person to know which way I like better.
First to do is the LED additional modulated brake lights.

Like mentioned, lens is the same, maybe even the bases, but it wont just bolt on without some work.
I might look into this is I can get a damaged brake light from one of those models. Some look closer to the Valk than others, with regards to the base.
I have an ACE Tourer, and they use a different assembly all together, so I can't compare to something I already have. We have a couple of Shadow 750 in our group, but no Aero/Sabre or ACEs. I've already sold the rear fender, but know other riders in town I can look over their bikes before I replace mine.

Excuse me for asking, but doesn't an I/S already come with the same tail light that's on a Standard/Tourer, for example. Standard tail light units aren't listed on I/S oem tail light pages which leaves the impression that it's not standard issue on the Interstate. At any rate, from your Ebay link and an OEM parts diagram, the Aero tail light attaches to the rear fender via Bracket #4 ( '98 Aero Tail Light Page). For whatever reasons, the bracket is not sold on OEM tail light pages for standard nor tourers. The jog in the Aero's bracket may be there to clear something on the Aero fender. However, the spacing between the two bolt holes appears about the same for where Bracket #4 would attach on a Valk fender. That's just going by pics, of course.

The IS has the rear tail lights (turn and license), but does not have a brake light on the fender. Honda placed them in the trunk only, 4 lights for running/brake. I love that the brakes are higher in the trunk, I think it places it more into the line of sight of cagers.
Some people like to remove the trunk, and then mount the brake light on the fender. I ride 2 up and want the trunk for myself too, so I just want more visibility. Thats why the top trunk GW light, fender brake light, and the modulated brake LED light I've seen on fellow riders bikes.
I like your pics above. Yes, I noticed the Areo, seems to me with out any bike/light to look at, as being the same as the brake light I did buy for my IS, but sold as I wrote off my bike in an accident. Now I'm taking the time till I buy again, to get some of those hard to find at a good price items, and rare ones also.
But the fender you posted is the front section, not the rear. If I knew how you posted those (no photo shop) I would try myself. The rear section on the IS has a cover plate where the brake light mounts. If I remember correctly, the cover plate has those same 3 bolt holes that the Areo light looks like it would fit right into, no mod.
I was hoping someone would have tried a few of these, and be able to tell us whick one is the correct one. Maybe I'll buy a Valk one and then go down to different dealers with the Shadow light and check them out, just so this question can be answered.
I think this would make a very inexpensive replacement for us, along with those wishing to Super Valk their bike. They would not be as rare and expensive as a Valk tail light.

Gordon, one way to go (slow), is to use the HDL or other Honda parts list schematics for your (or any Valk) and the other Aero/Shadow/Sabre bikes, and scroll down thru the parts lists and numbers and see what numbers match, and what number do not match. Here is a link to the Valk parts list. http://forums.delphiforums.com/valkyrie/messages?msg=11596.1

If I remember correctly, Big Mike had a few blinker assemblies from IS's, but didn't see any tail light stuff for standards/tourers. That doesn't mean that he doesn't have a few sitting around tho. I was looking for a standard tail light for a Super Valk conversion at the time. Email him and ask. He will take good care of you. If he doesn't have one, he can probably find you one. Hay Jimmyt
