we even bought one of the magnavox tvs that where suppost to quiet them down even more after that last ban, it did even less than the ban did..

Jess, I didn't know that. Was a law, or rule, passed against it? Why did it now work?

I really dont remember, but it was an FCC ruling that the loud commercials could not be any louder than a certain db level. I too bought one of those tv's that would balance the sound,, mine was a toshiba, made in lebanon Tn. that didnt work either. but as far as being a law, i cannot say for sure, but i do remember because those commercials drove me batty, i would have to have the remote in hand at all times to turn them down,,,

How long do you figure when the station will just make the normal programming volume softer so you will turn up the volume and just leave the commercial volume the same?
I'd say they already did.

It's always been a game of cat and mouse. It's just a matter of working around the rules. No matter how the lawyers write it up there is always a way of manipulating the peak decibels, frequencies and volume averages to beat the system. I'll believe it when I hear it.
