Even more interesting are the comments from people who have to defend their american made clothing distributor's motorcycle.

Last I looked you could buy Rune's for about $15K.

I want one... but I am a little scared of the tire wear and the cost to ride it.

I'd be the guy that RIDES it.  Commutes on it, and rides it to VRCC events.

50 miles...  2funny 2funny 2funny

Did I read it correctly?  Honda LOST $75,000 on each bike sold.

Given the design thru manufacturing cost, it came out to roughly $100K per bike to manufacture, each bike sold for
roughly $25K so net loss of $75K per bike.   Maybe they should have made it up in volume?

I do love the styling of the Rune.  Some think the front end is ugly but I think it is a work of art.  I have sat on one but I would love to take one for a test ride but they are so rare up here.  I did see one at a Kawi dealership but they would not let anyone test ride it.  Like I would pay that much money and not ride one to see if I like it.  It was a nice bike with a Corbin seat and saddle bags. (I think it was Corbin)

I really liked the article.  I was going to post it on my facebook page, but the sub-title refered to the Rune as a "flop."

I don't see it as a flop at all, but instead, a genuine concept bike put into production in a gutsey corporate move by Honda.  They were pushing the envelope.

Cheapest one I've seen yet. Less than 10k miles (16k kms) and close to home! (In Cornhole) Dayum... if I had money to burn and a year-round riding season I'd snap it up:

I won one of the 30 pre-Rune-Release test rides at the Honda Homecoming in 2003.  2 laps on Honda's 1/2 mile test track.

It was pretty cool.
