Wow!

"BAGHDAD (AP) — After nearly nine years, 4,500 American dead, 32,000 wounded and more than $800 billion, U.S. officials formally shut down the war in Iraq — a conflict that U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said was worth the price in blood and money, as it set Iraq on a path to democracy."

Just a campaign promise payed for in Allied Blood.

Nine years

4500  American Soldiers killed

Over a trillion dollars spent

Nether Iraq's president nor prime minister bothers to attend ceremony

It will be business as usual over there within a month, like it has been for the last 4000 years

Wada waste. America's best and brightest, treasure, assets, Technology, they beat us for a campaign promise from an America hating non American.
Victory dosent have an entry in barry's lexicon. Not American Victory anyway.
We'll be back though. Give it 5 years and the whole damn thing will explode. Maybe here.

Since Bush is the one who signed the agreement with the Iraqi government that set the timetable for when the US forces would leave, are you calling GWB an "America hating non American"??  Roll Eyes  Didn't GWB already claim American victory under the now-infamous "Mission Accomplished" banner??

For those who think we shouldn't leave yet, what would victory look like for you?  Don't get me wrong, I'm under no dilusion that things are all great over there and I don't like the fact that Iran appears to be having alot of influence there.  But really, what more could we accomplish?  We should have been out of there long ago...in fact, we shouldn't have been there in the first place.

I guess it does kinda come off that way.  I think now, as I always have, fight a war to win.
Dresden,Tokyo, not a staying political pansy action. Sader city should have been flattened.
Snipe, take out the block. I'll go with shoulda never gone. obama could have gotten us out earlier, or  made it a real Victory. That might have been better than osama.
I still dont like the whole scene and it dosent sit well.

Seriously, not being a smartass or anything, what would you (or anyone else for that matter) have considered a "real victory"?  I keep hearing this statement from critics, but nobody ever explains what that would look like.

Bush should have never gotten us in Iraq and Obummer should have shut it down on day 1 of his regime.

Total waste of American life, limb, money and effort. Bunch of fools in Washington and the Pentagon. Total shame for all involved in keeping us their after about 90 days.

YMMV,
