Hard to believe these guys are both gone, Cagney since 1986 and Hope more recently, but I'm so glad I was around to enjoy their routines, and this was one of the best.

  Cagney and Hope

James Cagney and Bob Hope at a Friar's Club Meeting back when actors were real performers.
Bob Hope was 52 and James Cagney was 56. For the young folks, here is something you probably have never seen before and, unfortunately, you may never see again.
For us older folks, this is the best of the best, and we had it for many years!
This is a side of these two entertainers you hardly ever saw but it shows you their enormous talent.
Bob Hope, the best of the comedians, and Jimmy Cagney...mostly cast as the bad guy, gangster in the movies.

RJ, great old stuff, I miss the old-timers...male and female. Some years back I saw those two on TV spoofing that very routine. Both were up in years and stood in one spot, just tapping their toes, Hope would go 'round and 'round and then stop....bend over, then act like he was totally out of breath. Don't recall the show they were on, but they both suddenly broke into the full routine but only for a short time. Brought the house down.

I was sitting there laughing like crazy and my kids just sat and looked at me, shaking their heads.  Wink

John, if it is the show I'm thinking about you refer to, it was Johnny Carson.

Thanks for posting RJ

Bob Hope was the greatest entertainer of all time, and it's hard to find anyone under 30 that has even heard of him.

I would love to see an old re-run of a Bob Hope Christmas Special or a U.S.O. tour on t.v.  I guess not enough people would watch it.

Top of the world ma. James Cagney in White Heat as he shot his pistol into the top of the oil storage container. Some folks would tell you he always played a bad guy. They tend to forget he was a fine dancer and when the need arose he could sing a little as well. You nailed it R J-an entertainer-multi faceted-both of them. Get lucky once in awhile late nite and Cagney and Hopes old movies come on. Can't get my 16 year old to watch black and white movies though. She don't even like the colorized ones. Thanks R J. I knew Cagney was a hoofer. I didn't know Hope was. My favorite Cagney roll is Bottom in Cecil B. Demille's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." It don't get no better. "Art thou trying to make an ass of me?" said with a Cagney accent.
