Why did they detain him to begin with? Threats, intimidation, harassment, why the questions?
What law is there that says you can't carry cash?

Man detained and harassed at airport for carrying CASH!powered by Aeva

What a scary deal!  I applaud the young man.  How many of us would have stood up for our rights?  How many would have just caved?

I fly in and out of the country all of the time and typically have around $10,000 in cash on me(not mine).  TSA are idiots.

You only have to claim in customs if you are carrying over $10,000 so his $4,700 was nothing when looking at the law.

I smell a lawsuit coming.

I forgot, they tell us what we can and can't do, instead of the way it was intended.

Its sad what the world is comming to. ??? Cry
Down here in Aussie land we dont have any cash because the guvment have it all.
And if you want to do anything you like at an airport all you need to be is a bikie club member.
Im not sure if you are aware of the incident but in Sydney airport a man was bashed to death in front of passengers, but there was no security anywhere to be seen until after the assailants left. Roll Eyes
I expect if these assailants had been carrying a nail file or nail scissors they would have been arrested and charged, but murdering someone is OK?  uglystupid2

There are two competing principles I see here, and I dont have a good answer to the best way to deal with it.

One.  It used to be that we all (most) trusted law enforcement and it was "the thing to do" to cooperate with any demand they would make, maybe it was a simple question or maybe they want to look in your trunk....anything, we had little reason to fear a bad deal coming.

Now a days it seems we cant be so trusting and thats sad.

Two.  I cant fault Law enforcement for acting more aggressive once they feel more suspicious of someone.

Yet they make us act more suspicious by not behaving like they should so dang often

So its a catch 22 of sorts.  Bottom line, I think cooperation when you have nothing to hide is still the best bet, BUT....like this Steve guy....when you feel you have a reason to guard against the "man" you really need to mind ATTITUDE, same with that pastor in Arizona.......subtile tone inflections can set cops off in situations where their observing skills are in heightend alert....so just be careful out there, but stand up for your rights

I think they are profiling, search all the young, white, US citizens.  I wish I could find the email about the islamic fundamentalist terrirists and all the incidents they were involved in going back to the Munich Olympics.  It has always ticked me off that little old ladies are subjected to more thurough searches than the towelheads going through security, so as not to make it look like profiling.  When a little old lady hijacks a plane, then you can start searching little old ladies, until then PROFILE and leave the rest of us ALONE!

Oh yeah, I don't like taking my shoes off either.  How many shoe bombs have they found since that started?

What a bunch of clowns.

By the way this isn't intended to be racist, maybe I should have use "the T-word" so I don't offend any one.
