wonder how many think of just how much those men and women did for all of us so long ago?

There are not many around anymore.  My Father died in '84.  He was a Army combat vet with the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.  We were just starting to get to know each other and he his grandchildren when he passed.  I often think of him and would appreciate his guidance from time to time.

Lost an uncle i never knew at Normandy. Even having served i can not begin to fathom what these soldiers went through. To say conditions were harsh does a disservice to everyone there. And you are correct. We can NEVER thank them enough. A lot of present day young folk don't even know what went on over there in the late 30s on into the mid 40s. Those that do not study history are doomed to repeat it!! RIDE SAFE.

A interview with one Veteran American Allied Soldier, talked about how the equipment they had for cold weather was not good.

He went to sleep standing up in his fox hole and next morning his feet and lower legs were in a frozen puddle.

His fellow soldiers had to chip him out of the ice.

His legs and feet never healed right, but he survived the battle and got to come home.

Can't imagine 5000 miles from home andfighting for your life and victory.

Thank God for the American Soldiers.

Great pics. Wish I knew how to post a Power-Point link here. I have a very good one of the emergence of the Nazis in the late 30's. If anyone knows how......

My dad's brother was in the Battle of the Bulge.

I don't remember his outfit, but I know he was on patrol one night and a sniper shot him in the top of his right shoulder, the slug exited just above his knee in the back.

We lost him when he was 85, in Feb 2006, 2 months from his 86th birthday.   He would never talk about his experience over there.   Especially the Battle  of the Bulge.
