Fork seal question - Can I get away with only replacing seals?

I'm in a position where my fork seals need replacing urgently and I can't afford so spend much money right now.  How necessary is it to replace other parts in the same vicinity, such as guide and slider bushings and backup rings?  My bike is a 2000 Tourer with about 68,000 km on the odometer and forks haven't been opened up before.

Seal sets and bushing guides & sliders is all you need to do. Not expensive.

If your slides/guides are worn you could experience stiction & handling issues.

That other stuff will probably be OK. I got all the stuff that might be needed when
I did mine last year, and I think I only used the seal kit (21) and one of the
9's or 10's out of guilt - I had them and one was worn a little shiny in one place...

There's a couple of tricks... each side is different and you have to unload a
compressed spring on both sides to get them apart... one side requires a
special tool (or equivalent) and the other side requires a 90degree elbow, some string
from a bale of hay and an old lawn chair 

There are ways to do it without taking everything apart too... taking them off the
bike and apart allows you to refill them using the "inches from the top" method instead
of the volume method...
