So I was just reading over the posts, and I noticed a couple of weight questions.  That got me thinking about my own weight, and how I just got off of the night schedule, and I’m back on days for the next three months.

Working nights can be bad for you!  I gained 22#’s in three months!  Got up to a whopping 257#!!  That’s a lot of fat for me!  Considering that three months earlier I was down to 235, wanting to get back below 200 would be ideal!

In one week I’ve lost 5#, just by working the day shift.  I find myself not eating to keep myself awake at work.  And this being the winter, it’s hard to want to do anything outside because it’s so cold, I just sit around watching TV all day on my days off……

I know the best way to loose weight is to cut calories; I’m not an athlete, so doing any running isn’t going to happen!  I’d say the best exercise is sex, but the wife doesn’t want to burn any calories that way!!  The other option is to just keep busy, don’t be around food, and to think of how uncomfortable my tight pants feel!!

Needles to say, I’ve got to loose this gut!  It’s been one week, lets see what the next 11 will bring, and that’s when I go back to nights again!!

WISH ME LUCK!!

I hurt my hip the other day and got inspiration from hubcap mike
and bought suspenders

No more pain in the hip or almost gone most of the time

I can eat all I want and dont have to loosen that belt

ok  so this probably doesnt help

so listen to yourself and get off that see food diet and get out and walk or run a few miles every morning
or if you cant get out jump rope  (see food - eat food)

sorry cant help you with the wife problem either     Undecided

I lost 42 lbs by just giving up bread and potatoes....

Going back on a serious diet after Christmas. At 322 lbs I need to loose a couple more...I'm not that fat, just under tall for my weight 2funny

Seriously though, now have high blood pressure so gotta do something about it. Thing is, I feel fit as a fiddle...

I'm 5' 11" and weigh 225.  Many years ago the wife said that I'll never lose the gut and I haven't.

I weigh myself twice a week and try to hold back on eating.  I've also developed a small butt to go along with the reverse gut so i couldn't keep my pants up so i went to suspenders too.  Big difference, I don't need to cinch up the belt now, makes a difference, feels much better.

I walk, or try to, three times/week along with some weight machine work.  It is a constant struggle. I have managed to keep my weight within 2 pounds of when i retired 21 years ago.

A BIG word of advice. Our bodies do a great job for us in spite of how we treat them.  However, at about 55 to 65 years of age, you'lll find that the body will get even with you unless you decide to straighten up.  Too much weight WILL get to you sooner or later.  I won't even talk about smoking.

I lost my wife when she was 68 years old.  She had told me one time that it was her body to do with what she wanted.  She was 5'3'", weighed 300 pounds  had finally quit smoking, but died from congestive heart failure and COPD.  It's been 10 years and I miss her yet.

Don't do that to your spouse.

I know.

Wayne

Wayne,

losing your wife at 68 is too young.  sorry to hear that, even though it was ten years ago, i know it's something you never get over.

as for the weight thing, i know that if i don't lose it now, i'll never lose it!  my mom was a fat short thing, she tried every single diet imaginable.  she's 79 now, lost all the weight, along with her mind.  i often wonder if obesity and althiemers  go hand-n-hand.  i wouldn't dought it, another reason why i need to lose it!!

In 2010 I lost 85 pounds (285 down to 200).

It was no "diet" or cutting out of specific foods (carbs, fats, etc). Simple formula actually.. count the calories and get up and move. I ate 1500 calories a day and exercised an hour every day; either treadmill, stationary bike, or elliptical (side-note: if I ever meet the inventor of the elliptical, I'm going to punch him in the mouth - a torture device like nothing since the dark ages  Cheesy )

When you eat 1500 calories a day you learn pretty quick to maximize the amount of food for the calories allowed, thus i eat more chicken, turkey, and fish than I do red meat as i get more food for less calories. Also, if you can stand to add more vegetable to your diet that will give you much more food everyday.

It was worth it though... my blood work is much better than it was previously; 150 cholesterol, no more borderline diabetes, and it doesn't hurt to move anymore.

Over the last 11 months I gained back 30 pounds and am currently working on getting that taken off again... oh well, have determined that it has to be a "lifestyle" choice and not a one time thing... gotta a date with the stationary bike this afternoon  Cool

I used LoseIt on my Iphone and their stand alone website (LoseIt App & Website Screenshots) to keep track of calories and exercise. As long as your honest with yourself and log everything that you eat, it will work for you.

Well, I found an easy way to lose weight 15 months ago.
first, lose your job, second, have your son and grandson move in with you and support them till he finds work,(4months), next, have your son in law lose his job within two weeks of your job loss and have them move in with you and support them for three months while they try to find work,(best part is grand daughter you get to see every day). Then be denied unemployment because former CEO has set you up and lied to protect himself.,(they caught up with him and fired his tail several months later).
I lost an easy 35 lbs in just a few months.  It will work every time  Wink

On another note, everyone has moved out now and are on their own again and doing well. Gained another grand daughter during this process also.  I, on the other hand have gained 10 pounds back Grin  Life is a hoot for sure. I have a great wife that supports me,(literally), and she is happy as a pig in a mud bank. We live and love and thank God every day that we are so rich compared to so many that have lost everything in life, including their loved ones.    Now I got to find a life crises to loss the ten pounds again laugh

I've just been to the gym. They've got a new machine in. I only used it for half an hour, as I started to feel sick. It's great though. It does everything - KitKats, Mars Bars, Snickers, Potato Crisps, the lot.
