Not much choice these days I know. I now have the money to buy a different exhaust system for a better sound. I am currently running a std very quiet OEM set up, not modified at all.

My bike had Cobra's on when I got it, liked the sound but performance was poor and they were too rusty to salvage so I think quality is a problem with our lovely English weather!!

I'm liking the look of Viper modified OEM systems, anyone any first hand experience of these?

I could just get another OEM set and cut the piggies and drill for a better sound...?

I'm just so undecided and money is burning a hole in my pocket!!!!

Any first had advice greatly accepted. Thanks in advance. Smiley

One thing is for sure, i want to keep my current OEM pipes standard, just in case.

Viking pipes are no longer in existense.   Only way you will find these is if someone is selling them online.   Then, be prepared to pay a large amount for them.

What is it you don't understand on the MarkT site?

Post here and maybe we can help ya or maybe Mark will see it and explain it to you.

Mark is good people to deal with.

That's what I did, cutoff piggies & drilled 2 of the 3 baffles out, sounds & performs just fine, not too loud but turns heads when u crack it.

The two brother canister type exhaust system for the the valk is very nice ..imho.. but will be tough one to find....if I ever come across one of those i would jump on it with two feet...the stainless one out of production for who knows how long...the headers turn goldish but they are a real performance system. cooldude

I am currently running a set of Jardine Rumblers on my 97. I love the sound. I don't feel any loss of power. It doesn't sound raspy and is much more tolerable than the Cobra's. Not sure of the availability I got mine use off this site.

Dag made a list (with links) of the different exhausts a while back.

http://www.valkyrienorway.com/Exhaust.html

It would appear that the Viper exhausts are still available.

If you're thinking about modding an OEM set (cutting pigs and/or drilling baffles), be forewarned that they'll drone beginning with cutting the piggies.  They'll only drone worse the each addition mod....drilling, ragnar cut, etc.

If you ride without a windshield, then it won't be a problem.  If you have a shield and ride with a half helmet, it still won't be a problem.  However, if you ride with anything that covers your ears, you'll get that drone....an if you have tinnitus, the drone can present a real problem.

Here's mine with the piggies cut and all six REAR baffles drilled.....

Honda Valkyrie - LED turn and tag light modificationspowered by Aeva

And this is it with the Ragnar cut......

Honda Valkyrie - after Ragnar Cutpowered by Aeva

It does sound mean and isn't all that loud when not getting in the throttle....but when you do open it up, then it's really mean.

Thank you for all the replies, great to get some feedback before I decide. Another question, would GL1500 Wing downpipes fit the Valk? I can buy stainless ones here in the UK and could get some carbon cans mated to them...just another idea..

I too done the "Ragnar Cut", its not overly loud, (IMO it has a good sound too) but it is loud enough for cars to hear you.  I have never really heard any other exhaust except for stock so I really cant comment on any of the aftermarket exhausts.

The main reason I did the Ragnar cut on mine is a louder motorcycle is a seen motorcycle.  There are so many idiots on the road that just dont pay attention to motorcycles......

The GL1500 SS downpipes will work on the Valkyrie.
An aquaitence of mine did make a set of headers using salvaged GW pipes.

tape down your horn button. the forward facing sound will work better than the rear facing sound from the exhaust.

Thats great, there are a couple of places here in the UK that sell stainless downpipes for the Wing. Would look good with a couple of carbon cans mated to them......

Al told me that they were the mark-t pipes with the baffle removed and I figured that he would know since after all it was his bike.  Were the dragon pipes made with the threaded reducer inside so you could thread/install a glasspack baffle (just like the mark-t pipes)?   Either way I really don't care who made the pipes I still think they sound pretty darned good on the phat bottom girl and wouldn't trade them for a set of stockers anyday.

I cut the piggies ,drilled, then put on the truck stacks. When you twist it it sounds like a racing truck, it will turn heads without being obnoxious.
