I want to buy some quick release straps for my helmets and need some advice from those who have them. I bought 2 full face helmets and they are a pain to fasten the D rings. There are a lot on the market so I need help.
Thanks in advance. Here is one.

My wife has these on both of her helmets.  She likes them personally, I dislike them.  I like to be able to tighten or loosen mine on the run.

But to answer your question, they do seem to be a pretty decent product, and the ones we bought where marked as guarantied to be stronger than the d-rings.

We paid right at $9 a piece at our local honda/harley shop.  I have seen them at all of the local shops here as well.

I have used these before, and these are alot more user friendly IMHO.

Here are some others that are real cheap as well that look to be more user friendly.

I have them and they are great.  A little tricky to connect (not disconnect) blind but no big deal.  I ended up cutting a good deal of the strap off so it didn't keep smacking my face (and used a lighter to melt the cut edge).  Over time (weeks) they always come loose a little, so you snug them up an 1/8-1/4" once in a while.

I have used these on all my helmets for years... actually have an extra somewhere in the bike... you do have to get used to it, but not a big deal. I sewed the loose end back on the strap itself and that keeps it from slipping- set and forget......

Good idea on stitching the strap (with the quick release buckles).

However, I wear half helmets, and I need about a third inch more strap when the neck curtain is zipped on, than when it is off.

Thanks guys for all the help. I've heard about people complain they were too small and hard to connect. I need something like a small car's seatbelt buckle, but would have to be smaller than that! Grin

I have both types and preferr the PowerMadd PM81060 Speed Clip.  The added length of the male portion makes operation way easier and there is an included ladder lock piece that secures the loose end but still allows adjustments.  But, in my experience, neither can be adjusted on-the-fly like the traditional D-rings.

We have them on our shorties. With the wife's RA, she can't usually get the two halves lined up correctly nor does she normally have the strength in her hands to squeeze hard enough on the tabs to release it.

I don't usually have a problem with mine. Ours do seem to loosen up quickly (hours, not days or weeks) and have to be tightened by an 1/8" or 1/4" regularly.

Get some of those Fastex ladder lock buckles to retain the loose end and it will help and possibly eliminate the loosening problems.  Or go with the PowerMadd PM81060 Speed Clip and eliminate both the lining up of the male/female buckle half and the loosening.
