The Black album wasn't bad. It was kind of the beginning of the end for the real Metallica and I'll take anything they put out before it but there are some very good songs on it, this is one of them. Terrific solo by James too.
For that matter, Metallica has done a few good songs since the Black album (Fixxer comes to mind) and the Garage Days re-mix had some really good stuff on it like the cover of Astronomy and the Mercyful Fate medley. My real big beef with Metallica isn't even that the music changed. I might not like the new stuff but I can't expect an artist to keep putting out the same album over and over. My real issue with them is the whole "suing your fans" thing.

Boxer rebellion, the Holy Child. They all pay their rent. But none together can testify to the rhythm of a road well bent. Saddles and zip codes, passports and gates, the Jones' keep. In August the water is trickling, in April it's furious deep.

Metallica had Napster shut down. Then to add insult to injury, Jim Hetfield said that the music wasn't important and never was......and that the band was just a business to make money. Metallica blow$

Metallica blow$ Was that quote taken out of context? I believe Lars thinks that way, but I'm not sure about James. Or maybe James was describing Lars' attitude?

I can't find the quote.....and my remember-er ain't as good as it once was, but I remember watching one of those MTV news update things back in the day they reported it. It might have been Lars, but I'm thinking it was Jim. Either way, they sued Napster to get it shut down and the outcome was still the $ame.
