Local Denver traffic reporter Amelia Earhart, a distant relative of the original, is recreating her name sakes flight around the world. She is starting by "recreating" a  flight across the United States. She is flying a really cool (Cirrus SR22) single engine plane with video cameras mounted on the tail and wing.(check out the raw video)

Not to be the party pooper, but we all know that current tech. makes this whole flight alot easier. Why not do it in the craptastic type of plane that was used the first time...

Actually, for that trip I'd rather have a serviceable old plane with new state of the art instrumentation/gps/nav, than a modern plane with the instruments available to Amelia (a watch, sextant, maps, dead reckoning and balls of steel).  I'd end up at the South Pole.... if I was lucky
