There's a story involved:

So, for Christmas my wife Dena got me an awesome new riding jacket.  I had been pining over this jacket for months and had visited Antler Creek Leather in South Austin about four times just to try it on.  The thing is, this jacket is an American made Schott and comes with a hefty price tag.  Figured that after paying for Christmas, property taxes and quarterly taxes, I'd see if anything was left over and maybe then I'd go get that jacket.

Well, Geoff -- the owner of Antler Creek -- and Dena conspired to make sure I had that jacket for Christmas.  The last time I visited the store, there was some discussion that maybe the jacket had been sold.  I had resign myself to the now false fact that I would be waiting a while to get that new Schott.

What I wonderful surprise on Christmas Day!  Dena had been hiding that jacket for weeks and had been dying to give it to me.  I must have looked like a silly kid when I opened that box!  (Now, I may be a little short on that quarterly tax payment coming up!)

Anyway, once the rains cleared and the sun came out yesterday, Dena strongly suggested that I try out that new jacket on the motorcycle instead of just wearing it around the house pretending to be on the motorcycle.  Good idea!  And since December 26th is "Boxing Day" I had my own Boxing Day Ride!

I rode off to some familiar places -- Dripping Springs, Henly, Blanco, Albert...

The bar in Albert was closed, so I took some back roads over to Luckenbach...

Yes, I rode seventy-five-odd miles for a beer...that Shiner Bock sure was good, though!

I then headed back through Blanco, Fischer, the Devil's Backbone, Wimberley and finally home to Driftwood.

The new jacket is officially broke in!

Wonderful day for a ride -- a Boxing Day Ride!

Good ride report Charlie!  Also glad you got out to ride and break that nice looking new jacket in right.  I rode all the way to the Shiner Brewery for one of their beers, so 70 miles is nothing!

Great report, Charlie!  Great job, Dena!

You're killing me, Hay...

And doubleminded, sad isn't it how Clark's went from iconic BBQ to having better fried catfish than "Q" to (at least the last several times I've been) being barely qualified as a beer stop...
