GOT CURVES??

VRCCDS0184

« on: January 08, 2012, 02:57:51 PM »

Anyone have them or had them, and any opinions. I am thinking of switching over my homeowners and autos.

I'll save a little bit, but if they don't pay up when it counts, then its not worth it.

I have no experience directly with them. I do know that in many ratings and reviews USAA comes out #1 for prices and customer service.

I know that Clark Howard (financial guru that I listen to on the radio) says they're the best.

Wish I could be of more help.

Had USAA since I started driving. Luckily (Knock on wood) rarely had to use 'em, but the times I have they've been courteous, prompt and fair.

Had 'em on my house, but had to switch, they were nearly double the price of an alternative for home owners insurance, but the homeowner's service was on par with the vehicle service while we had it.

Also have CC's, car loans with 'em, and we're considering switching all of our banking over to them.

Been with them probably 40+ years, house, and autos.   Great company, and no hastles.  They may be a little higher on the home side, but no question if they will pay full value.  They also wont drop you, or arbitrarily raise your rates.  Was stopped at a redlight recently and some Cellphone talking Bimbo in a SUV rear ended me.  I went through her insurance, but notified USAA with the quote,  They cut me a check that I had to send back for more than her insurance paid.  They dont do motorcycles though.

had them for over 30 years, home and autos.  paid a few water camage claims on home without problem.  no problem with daughter backing into friend's car or skidding out on curve over median with big repair bills.  (She is now 23 so not jacking up my rates with usaa any more).   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes  Can problably beat price with a lot of internet shopping but i have stuck with them and have no complaints.

have my moto with progressive.   laugh laugh i know some have "political" problem with them but they gave me the highest uninsured/underinsured policy at good rate.  USAA or others would not insure UI/UIM that high for a motorcycle.

I think that is important to have so when the cage without insurance or a $15k policy creams you with a lot of damage.  Angry

We've had them for our homeowners insurance for the last three years.  Their quote for our new house was almost half what All State wanted.  Still have GEICO for Autos due to no one beating their rates for us.  We've been with GEICO for over 25 years.  I have friends that have been with USAA a lot longer than us and I've not heard of any complaints.

Thanks for the replies.  cooldude

Others I work with are also happy with them. My Father recently switched after Hartford put the screws to him after a hail storm. The other Navy veteran across the road had USAA and they treated him  well. My Dad switched then and I think I am going to also.

I have USAA since 1982 and I am very happy with them, right before X-mas my roof started leaking and I needed to get at least half the roof replaced and the roofer sent in the estimate for half the roof and USAA came back and told them to replace the whole roof at once. I have never had a problem with them I think they are a great insurance company. They do not insure Scooters anymore, they have a agreement with Prgressive for that, my Valk is insured with USAA (grandfathered) and my wifes bike is with USAA through Progressive, have had no problems with it.

Been with them for many years.  Best company out there IMO.  As has been said, not always the lowest prices on Homeowners, but nobody has ever been cheaper on Auto.  Claims service is fast & they don't low ball their payouts.  Also, don't forget the "profit sharing" check you get when their claims are low.  You won't be sorry.

I have no direct experience with USAA as a policy holder... however, I deal with insurance co's every day.  USAA ranks up there with the best of them.  They are also HUGE, and do a lot more than insurance.  I lived in San Antonio, Tx.  where they are located.  If you drive down Fredericksburg Rd or McDermott Freeway for around 2-3 miles... USAA is still on your right hand side.  The must have 100 buildings and have 2 Zip Codes in San Antonio... Grin
