I've been collecting information to avoid having the same thing happen again after
I get the fairing repainted...

I've got the bigger washers...

Hoppe saw the picture and said make sure the prep work is good...

Joe May suggested that perhaps my painter used "yo mama's" paint instead of
the good stuff... I'll get colorrite next time...

Joe doesn't use a rubber washer behind the chrome one... I'm not sure which way to
go on that...

I took a picture of Joe's fariing at Cheaha, seems like he has a tiny bit of separation too if
you zoom in on all 7 megapixels... I think there's just a lot of stress at the mount point
on one of these fairings...

Joe's fairing...

My fairing (one side)...

My fairing (another side)...

I couldn't see that the second picture was fuzzy until I downloaded it... a couple more
years and maybe I won't be able to see that the paint on the fairing is messed up!  uglystupid2

I remember seeing your dilemma.

It looked to me as if the paint/clearcoat wasn't cured yet. Which would/should be unusual for a professional painter due to hardener catalysts, that should be utilized & expected from a professional.

Your paint was still soft. Could be also he used too much paint.

Or it was simply too soon to pressure mount against a new/fresh paint job or a combination of the above. A larger washer won't prevent that effect in the future under identical circumstances.
