I'm working on a set of pipes for my GL1000. I have heard to use take off HD mufflers. But it seems to me that most HD have stamped "labels" on them. So if i took a set of mufflers from a Sportster one side of the bike would end up with a stamping showing. The touring mufflers all have the mount on the top way toward the back. Which makes them hard to mount on a Naked Wing.
I don't know jack about HDs Wide Boys, Fat Glides... Don't know one from the other.

Looking for a short set of slip ons.

To hide the stamp you'd have to put one hanger on the bottom, and one on the inside. I guess it wouldn't be horrible.

Jeff, have you thought about an after market HD muffler?

I don't remember where I got mine but my Ultra Glide had after market and no stamping was on them.

I want to say I got them at J&P Cycle here in Iowa, but my son says we got them from the largest HD in Florida at or around Daytona.   I think the owner was killed in a motor accident a couple of years ago.    His old shop was right on Hwy 1 in Daytona next to a Cadillac dealer.    Now I understand he is North of Daytona right on the I/State.   Bruce Rossmeyer's shop.    I had to cheat and look it up.

I was told that the big touring bikes have mufflers that don't flow equally.
After market is kinda pricey, then I might as well buy a Jardine exhaust for $500

Jeff I have put aftermarkets on several bikes that they were not designed for.  Had a set of D&Ds from Busa that I used on my ZX14 untill I bought a Brocks street meg.  Then put a set of carbon fiber Scorpions on my Concours 14, now these are really nice, and  not screaming loud like the street meg on the ZX.  They were designed for the ZX.  The Concours came with a single sided bazooka, and the ZX came with duals.  You can adapt almost anything and make it look factory if you take your time and find the right deal.  I got the Scorpions on sale at less than half, the D&Ds were used freebys from a bud.  I had to get creative with the mounts, but came out super.

JeffK, here is a link to a muffler I had on an old Gold Wing.  BUB = Big Ugly Bastards.

A buddy of mine also had a pair on his Yama-Hammer.

Some of the best slipons made are Kerker (Supertrapp) but they are spendy.

I joined them right away. Hell, I'm a "brass" Member already. From that pic I see that they just don't worry about they stamped EPA Label being visible.
I saw that post before but don't remember the pic.
Thanks
