Memorial Day weekend ride 2012. Ride Sunday May 27th.

Arrive Saturday May 26th.  Stay Saturday and Sunday nights. Ride home Monday.

Double room rate $55.95 plus taxes. Ask for a room blocked in the name of “English Paul”.

Days Inn Motel.
206 Blowing Rock Blvd
Lenoir, NC  28645
(828) 754-0731

The motel is opposite a gas station and there are a number of food outlets within easy walking distance.

Please let me know if you’re coming by email to britman453@hotmail.com
Subject title Memorial Day weekend ride and if you need one ask me for a Streets and Trips or pdf of the route.

If I post a warning in the route directions heed it. I’m not challenging your capabilities. Being purely factual. The route Sunday WILL be challenging for those not riding on a constant basis. IT IS NOT A RACE.

This will be a  day with lots of twisties and spirited, but safe, riding. Those uncomfortable with taking lots of twisties and sweepers or long day rides should skip this ride.

Pre ride briefing at 8.15 am. Leave the parking lot of the Days Inn at 8.30 sharp, gassed up and tire pressure checked.

Please make sure you check your brake pads and tire tread depth before leaving home. We don't want the ride to get messed up with roadside maintenance problems.

Bike route Lenoir Sunday 255 miles

Don't be surprised if lunch is fast food/convenience store. The route keeps us away from well traveled roads. Bring a snack - I mean it.

Remember you are responsible for the rider behind you not getting lost.

If you are about to make a turn and can't see the rider behind STOP AND WAIT. The rider ahead of you will do the same.

No need for separation anxiety.

Make sure you bring my route directions and a map of NC and TN.

Do you mind if an ol' Texas boy joins up with you on this ride?  I can't go to Inzane so looking at this as an alternative.  Only 1024 miles away!

Working on making this a week long ride.  Plan to head up to Gettysburg, then to Wash, DC to pay respects to a family friend at Arlington National Cemetery, then ride east to the ocean and ride down the coast back to Raleigh to visit an old friend, to Atlanta for another old friend, then down to Pensacola and then back to DFW.  Mama said I should visit old friends while out and I told her I would be visiting new friends and the old friends would add a few days and she said OK!

I got a good 'un!

Excellent roads you've picked Paul. Carolina Girl and I should be there. No oversize allowed on rds. most holiday weekends. I think Memorial Day is one of them.
Folks these roads are all in my 'hood. Great roads for the fun of motorcycling but if Paul issues a warning ya better listen to him. Looking forward to seeing y'all.  cooldude

I went to last years ride and loved it! I would like to ask you to rate this years ride with last years route. Is this years ride 2-3-4 times more challenging then last year? I don't ride every day anymore and don't want to get in over my head.

If everything goes right, add another from Texas.  Thanks, Rainmaker, for the idea.  This will be my first too.  I'm a virgin now, be gentle ya'll   2funny  Looking forward to this.  After Lenior, I'm heading to my sisters in Greer, SC for the week and either Thursday or early Friday, heading back to Texas.  Hope I can keep up with everyone on their playground.   laugh

Unless you have business in Chattanooga you are adding close to 200 miles to your ride out of Texas going that way.You could be in Knoxville in around 850 miles if you go through Choo Choo to get here it will be 1000 plus miles.
