that's what i'd say.  i know that on the I/S the warning lights are LED so it's not likely to burn out.

Stand switch works, Kills the motor.  The bike is a 99 standard and the small yellow light is in the tach next to the other idiot light that all work.  Is it an LED?

The manual has the meter lights at 12v 1.7w. Same for Tach and speedometer.
Pull the bulb before you order.

This is news to me!

Are you saying there is a light that illuminates when the key is on and the side stand down?

There is nothing on the Interstate like what you are talking about.

Ricky-D that light helps if the starter doesn't spin when you push the button.

Jruby38 Dag has some bulb info at his site. http://www.valkyrienorway.com/partsbulb.html

Here is some info I had saved;

AND if you want brighter or a different color for background on your gauges, check out superbrightleds. they have led replacements for the 194 wedge bulbs. Here's the page   http://www.superbrightleds.com/mini-wedge.html

If it is a standard or tourer, I put in 194LL or 168LL (LL = Long Life) one of the 2 was brighter then the other, and that was the one I used.  Sorry I don't remember which of the 2 it was, but they are really cheap bulbs.  I think all 4 cost less then 3 bucks.

I am with Ricky-D on this,

I have an Interstate and I don't have a side stand light on it.  Is this an aftermarket item that you put on?

What light would that be?

Is this something that only the Standard or Tourer has?

Or is it maybe something that is an aftermarket device added to the bike?

It's a indicator light in the tach face. I don't remember the color. It's snowing and blowing I won't go out and look right now Smiley

Ok, I just found it in a wiring schematic for a Tourer.

It is supposed to light up when the key is on and the side stand is down.

Seems having to depend upon a light to tell you the kickstand is down is an insult to american intelligence by the Honda designers.

And I can't see any connection to the starting system except that the light may go out as like with the headlight when you depress the starter button.

Check the side stand switch again. My side stand light quit working, but would still lock out the starter if the bike was in gear.

It was a std that he had.

If the side stand works, then it would be your light only.

Interstate's don't have a side stand light, only Standards and Tourers.  The wedge bulbs mentioned are for illuminating the gage face, they aren't the indicator bulbs.  I haven't had mine apart, but I'm pretty sure the indicator lights are LEDs.  There's a white 9-pin connector in the headlight shell.  The yellow wire with the black trace is the wire coming from the side stand switch going to the side stand indicator light.  When you put the side stand down, it provides a ground to the light to turn it on.  If you take the connector apart, you should be able to jumper a ground to the yellow wire with the black trace and turn the light on if its good (ign needs to be on when you do this).  If it comes on, you're loosing the ground somewhere between the connector and the switch (probably the switch, it gets grungy.
Let us know what you find.

The I/S don't have the sidestand light but doesn't need one.  When you put the bike in gear with the sidestand down, it shuts off the motor.  Makes it very idiot proof.  A real plus for me. 2funny

With all Valkyries, the side stand being down will not allow the motor to be started without the transmission being in neutral. The clutch lever (switch) has no affect in this particular situation.

Now that we know which bikes have side stand lights, LET'S MOVE ON with the install of superbrightleds in the speedo and tach, they're great!    Cool  coolsmiley  cooldude
