Just got my timing belts changed. 98 std, 62,000 miles.
No cracks or visible wear. Looks like they had several
years and several thousand miles left....but I feels gooder
knowing I gots brand new belts. YMMV

I was up at Don's ( Highbinder ) farm a couple years ago and he showed me a timing belt he had just changed on his bike with 100,000 plus miles....He said the new belt did'nt look much better than the old belt. These Valkyrie's are very well made with the weak link IMO being the final drive. Still not another motorcycle on the market I'd rather own or ride just throw some grease on it every 10,000 miles or so.

I was debating whether to change mine out this winter. Turned over 80,000 last summer. We'll see how the rest of the maintenance goes.

I changed mine out last winter when I did my Desmog and Triple Tree Change. I was worried because of the age of them but when I took them out they didnt have any cracks or splits or anything. Looked great but still put the new ones on.

Owners manual says "inspect" at 100,000. Not sure if it says
when to change. You can inspect them w/o too much trouble.
Pop the cover off and have a look-see.

Does not reccomend mileage or years-inspect at 100000 miles.  coolsmiley Changed mine out last year at 40 something thousand miles.  Wink 99 I/S more for peace of mind than anything else. cooldude  RIDE SAFE.

Mine looked the same at the 50,000 mile inspection as it did when I changed it at 100,000 miles. I just did it for peace of mind. It is simple.
