Came across this auction last night and the bike was a bit over 11K (reserve not met) now at over 13K and still (reserve not met). What is an expected value of a 99 I/S with 35K miles? The bank says a 99 is worth right at 7K. Granted there is quite a but of bling on it but rarely do you get back the money you spent on those items when you sell.
Tell me what you guys think.....am I missing something here?
(Edit: ended item link removed.)

Someone, somewhere is willing to pay more than what something is really worth, because they think it is worth more to them or they really want it.
Nice bike, but I couldn't see my way to part with that money when there are others out there for much less and almost as nice.

He just added the following to his e-bay ad...... To all you Valkyrie e bay owners that have been emailing me with your sarcastic remarks, I do not care what you think Quit sending me e mails it is not my fault you are not getting bids on your bike . It's a sharp bike no doubt even in the slow black

'THE OLDER THE VALKYRIE INTERSTATE GETS THE MORE IT WILL BE WORTH. YOUR STANDARDS AND TOURERS ARE NOT COLLECTORS. 110 HP LIQUID COOLED.' I give him credit. He certainly seems to believe his own hype. As stated, nice bike but not at that price. I predict a serious case of buyers remorse.

It is his bike and he can ask what he wants for it.
It is your money and you will spend what you want. And it is not $13,000+.
As for sending him negative comments, really not necessary, just ignore him and he will go away and come down when it does not sell.
True story:
2 years ago there was a 1997 Standard on ebay with 1319 miles for $18500. Got no takers A week or so later it was back on ebay for $12,500. Got no takers. A week or so later it was back on ebay for $11,500. Got no takers.
When the last one ended I sent the guy an email with examples of what low mileage Valks were selling for, and told him to get serious and make me a reasonable offer and I would pick it up that day for cash.
He did and I did. Bike was like new except for clogged carbs and rusted gas tank. Been sitting in his basement for 13 years.
Cleaned carbs, new tank, runs and looks like a new bike.
Total investment $7500, a little high but like having a new Valkyrie.

A sucker born every minute.
Some person with more money than brains will give him more than you wold ever think.
I would not even give him half that much for his little creme puff.
Bought them with less miles and much nicer for half that,,twice.

I predict a serious case of buyers remorse. I don't really see it that way case in point I paid one of the biggest vendors of this site $400.00 for a set of used Rivco header shields for the Cobra 6X6 exhaust ( they was alittle over $200.00 when sold new and still available ). He had what I wanted and I was willing to meet his price something is worth what the buyer is willing to pay. If you bought a plain jane Interstate today and blinged it out with all the hard to find parts that one has you would soon find out that hellofa deal you got on plain jane was'nt that great of a deal.

back in 2003 after the 1st interstate I owned got totalled I paid close to 12k for a new 2001 interstate with just 3000 miles on it Insurance money left over paid for my shoei helmet and some bling So now 9 years later maybe my bike could bring the same amount? WOW I have had friends they bought their Harley as an investment but this is way better my friend has less than 10k on his investment.... and has spent thousands on repairs Plus I get to ride the snot out of my bike on trips all over the country just under 74k on the bike now Would have more but I ride the other bike to work most days If you like what you buy its worth what you paid. The 1st owner (a NJ cop)of the 2001 gave me a price and I said yes let me ride it and you drive it to my house, he did I did and I am glad it worked out

This cracks me up. It's a nice bike, but not all that. He certainly loves his scooter. I'm not so sure he isn't bidding it up himself. Looking at the bid history, the bids are place around the same times each day. They also have their identity hid, Hmmmm Wish him luck. It just makes the rest of them more valuable I guess.

I'd like to see him/her get 14000 18000 25000 dollars on it. Why would anyone or anybody berate this person?? I could put my 94 olds on E-bay or Amazon and ASK $100000 for it. Never get that but i sure could ask. Don't make me stupid or crazy-unrealistic at best but not stupid or crazy. There be people out in this world of ours might be seeing somethong we don't. If they got the bucks it be up to them how they spend it-no matter how unrealistic it be. RIDE SAFE.

I bought my low mileage 02 Standard in much the same manner. It was really nice and only had 4K miles on it but was on Ebay week after week priced well over established values. After about the forth attempt to sell, I contacted him and we talked about it. Turns out he really didn't have a clue and was just shooting for the moon. I still paid top dollar for the bike but, it was no where near his asking price. I don't blame him for shooting for the moon, someone may have wanted that Valkyrie bad enough to pay what he wanted. I wasn't that guy but wanted it bad enough to work with him on the price and he wanted to sell it badly enough to work with me. Could I have gotten it for less, maybe but the bike was and is worth every penny I paid.
Heck, I hope he gets what he's asking. Helps all of our values to somewhat.

Ebay bidding identities have been hidden for quite sometime now.. I personally think he may over value his bike, but certainly has that right. Now if someone else thinks as much of it as he does, then they'll get the bike and they'll both be happy. It's the way of the world..and if no one thinks it's worth the price, he'll still be riding it and happy with it...

Ebay used to show identies on all but high price items. Now, they hide them on all transactions, so I would not read anything into that.
An item is worth what a buyer is willing to pay that day. Might be $5,000, or $15,000. It is worth what it brings at that time, no matter how much or how little I, or anyone else, thinks it is worth.

Numerous things he did involve wiring, you have to hope he did a good job that you can understand when you look in there... nice taillights, I'm used to easily taking my bags off with the old quick-release system from Rattlebars... I wonder if the wiring makes those bags hard to remove? Lots of nice stuff on that bike that would cost a lot to buy bit by bit. -Mike

If the numbers I read somewhere were right, Honda made less Tourer's than I/S's, just over more model years. That would make them more rare, just not more sought after, hence not as pricey.
I/S's were what, about $1200.00 more new?
I'm not planning on selling any of mine, but if a sweet I/S came my way for a good price, I might havta add it.
Can't see where this bike will sell for almost what I paid for my Tourer back in 99, but it could.
Hope it does.

Supply & Demand!
I had a Interstate that I bought a few years ago, and it had every piece of chrome you could buy. I put it on ebay and it sold for $1200. over reserve. It was loaded and even had less miles than this one. Someone will indeed have a very nice interstate that will draw attention everywhere it goes...but wait, Smoking'Joe has one now for sale for only $10K.

It's not really " For Sale " anymore but it would take $10,000.00 for me to see it leave the garage I was ridin' it a couple months ago and I thought " I'd be crazy to sell this beautiful machine it's got just about every piece of hard to find Hondaline bling bolted on it , it runs outstanding and absolutely everything on it works as it should and the BIGGIE ...It's paid for....I could'nt replace it with a better bike mainly cause they ain't one out there I'd rather have " .

I bought my 2002 std off ebay with 2765 miles in June of 2003. It had a buy it now of $9200 and I stopped the auction 13 minutes after it was posted. And drove 9 hours to cheddarville to pick it up, THAT night. I bought my 1999 IS with 32000 miles on her in May of 2010 for $6000 after it was on craigslist twice, and ebay once. It was on ebay with a $6000 reserve. I offered the seller $6K and he said if it doesnt sell on ebay, you got a deal. That is my reserve. It didn't and I did. I flew to VA and rode her home. Personally... I think the guy in question is standing too close to his crack pipe. But I am glad he's running the numbers up on his own auction. It still costs him $$ to have an auction. He has to pay, just like if it sold. I like Joe's bike. I like LOT'S of valks that I don't WANT. Everyone has their own thing... For me, if it doesn't make the RIDE better, I don't care if I have it or not. I don't think all that bolt on stuff slows Joe down much though... Jabba

Thanks Terry I turned down $10,000 once who knows I might do it again... What would I buy that's as cool as a Valkyrie ??? Don't care anything whatsoever about owning a two-lunger and $10,000 won't help much if I wanted a Wing or the new 1600 Beemer

Jan-10-12 A: Glad you ask, when I bought the bike my Preacher Blessed the bike. It is called a JESUS NUT. On a helicopter there is a big nut that holds the main rotor on, if that nut comes off It is ((OH JESUS)) one of the nuts is engraved ((JESUS NUT))There is also a cross between the nuts. Thank you very much for asking. Just for the record the bike was pulled from E-Bay as nolonger available ??? 51 bids with final bid at $13,600

When I was looking for mine last year Joe, I saw yours on Bike Trader I think, the pic was at a mill some place, !0K for the goodies you have on that bike would be a steal I'm sure..especially with it being the super Fast Green and Silver. Sometimes wish I had bought it..I can't find half the stuff you have on that one. Simply a beautiful I/S!!

What you fail to acknowledge is that there are TWO cup holders on this one!!!! That explains it!!!!
And the two "Jesus Nuts" OK, I'll bite. What are "Jesus Nuts" ? From the E-Bay ad.... Q: Question: What are the 2 nuts hanging below the throttle? Jan-10-12 A: Glad you ask, when I bought the bike my Preacher Blessed the bike. It is called a JESUS NUT. On a helicopter there is a big nut that holds the main rotor on, if that nut comes off It is ((OH JESUS)) one of the nuts is engraved ((JESUS NUT))There is also a cross between the nuts. Thank you very much for asking. Just for the record the bike was pulled from E-Bay as nolonger available ??? 51 bids with final bid at $13,600 Musta got a better offer locally than the reserve price.
