My Mom use to say (lovingly) that it was the show tat ruined my live.  I have to say it did profoundly influenced me! Before "Easy Rider" I remember being glued to the old b/w TV watching the show. No profanity, no drugs it was a great adventure to watch for a 14 year old very impressionable boy. I never got the chance to take that long lonesome highway for that extended journey, but it was the start of a long trip on two wheels for me.
It was a nice Hanukkah/ Christmas gift from my son inlaw, very enjoyable to watch, kind of like a MC Roots. I would love to find a 1969 "Iron Head" magneto Sporty! Now that would be a nice project bike!

I never could understand why that show didn't stay on longer. I thought it was the coolest show ever!

As much as I liked watching the show it seemed kinda crazy going down that "long lonesome highway" with that little peanut gas tank.

If I remember right (which at my age/brain state is questionable) he never wore a helmet, just a wool skull cap.  And didn't he ride a Norton?

Yeah, it ruined my life too......ha......really put the motorcycle bug in me too.   As soon as I graduated from high school and got my first job I bought a brand new Kawasaki H1 500cc 3 cylinder 2 stroke and headed for the Grand Canyon from Houston on my first trip.   Took only back roads and had one of the best trips of my life.

On Then Came Bronson one of the funny things I remember was when he was going offroad in some of the films where he was being chased he was on a dirt bike but the sound was that of a Harley...ha

I had a Sportster, but I just couldnt become Bronson. I rode it on the long lonesome road after the Navy but there just wasnt any weekly adventures.  I did like the emblem on the tank but I wasnt gonna be a klinger poser and put it on mine.
I believe it was a "Watch cap". that he was sporting. This was way before the cool do-rag that most cool  riders seem to think is the Uniform of the day.

He started wearing a helmet, a orange one, always on a Sporty. It was a Magic Sporty! He won hill climbs with i,t did wheelies on sand, and could could win a race against anyone! It even started after the first or second kick!

I love the show and it caught me when it was new also. Trivia-the Sportster (the one that magically became a 350 Sprint when he hit the dirt) was an electric start model. When Michael Parks rared up on that kickstarter, he'd hit the button so it started. You can see it in some scenes. I bought the DVDs a few years ago, and I enjoy them regularly.
