I followed most of the advice everyone gave me here in this string, plus some from a buddy of mine.

Did a soak in paint tinner(cheaper than acetone) to remove the OEM clear coat, wet sanded with 320grit, followed by 1000, then 2000, then polished with rubbing compound then white polishing compound.

Alot of work and I'm going to puchase a buffing wheel for my hand grinder today.   Used my buddies air powered polisher, but I'd rather use electric than air.

It does look good! I just finished doing the same thing. I used paint remover and cleaned up my lower forks with Mothers mag and aluminum polish applying it with a power buffer followed by a wipe down. The oxidation wasn't as bad as yours. One these days, I'm going to pull the forks off the bike and do the uppers also.  Kiss
