Time to change the rear shocks on my standard. Usually ride 2 up and want to know if the Progressive 440's are worth the money. If so, 12.5 or 13"?

I just put the 440HD 13in on my I/S and loves them. If stock height is what you want the 12.5 are what is recommended. we ride 2up and together weight about 430 plus gear. I have the shocks set on 3 . I tried the 412 and 416 air shocks and they didn't work for us.

I aleays thought that 13" is the standard height, at least that's what Progressive indicates.
All three of our Valks have 13" Progressive 412's. We've had very good luck with them. Mark and Chris are no lightweights but the shocks work fine, great damping, and are a great shock with a reasonable price. I believe that the 440's have more sophisticated valving but the price is much higher.

I wouldn't use progressive suspension if they were free. very poor quality for the $500. I bought a set and they fell apart after 1 year. I had misplaced my receit and they offered to rebuild them for $300. Nice jesture.

I have always been satisfied with all my Progressive shocks starting with Progressive shocks on a 900F, a 1986 Gold Wing Interstate, and the present Valk. All have been 412's or air shocks.
The 440 shocks were a problem on some Gold Wings, I can't remember how long ago.

I've had Progressive on all of my last 5 or 6 bikes, no problem..... I'd say ya got a lemon, but don't blame the compnay since you no save the reciept.... I still have most of the receipts on the shocks for the last 3 bikes........ It pays to think ahead sometimes.......

If someone is looking for 412s there are a set in the JP Cycle scratch and dent, used with a few scratches for $100.00. After reading this I knew they would not work for my Mrs and I (to much weight two up).

I have about the same carrying weight issue on my 98 and I'm trying to decide whether to use I/S shocks or go 440 13' Progressives , I priced the I/S from the Stealership and I'm looking at around $ 800 plus tax American money ..... I'll want to switch out my front springs and shocks in the next few weeks .... how do you know at what setting to set your Prog . shocks at ? any advantage to going to a 13.5 inch shock ... we go camping alot an pull a trailer .... let me know Thanks Old Geezer Richard

440 HD will handle all you can put on them. Call Progressive, tell them exactly what you will be carrying, and they will tell you where to set the shocks. You can adjust from there if need be. They are very good and helpful. Great customer service. For the money, Progressive 440HD are better than the OEM, even if same price. MP

Just put new Works on my Std, best shock I ever had, Buddy has them on his Std, we both over 300#, ladies about 125-150 and we both pull pop-ups w/ about 60# tounge weight, he said his work great, they have 3 settings no tools needed, just call them and tell them how you ride weights and all, they will custom build for about $525.00 shipping included.
