I firmly believe that crime will never get better, and will only get worse, until (more) citizens are armed and in a position to protect themselves. Yes, it is pathetic that it's come to such a state. But it's virtually impossible for the police to protect the people, and criminals aren't the least bit afraid of the judicial system. I believe that if enough bad guys encounter the same fate as this dirtbag did at that Waffle House other ones might start thinking that it's not a good idea!

I'm guessing that customer had some realistic training. I have my Statewide firearms license as well as my concealed license. I have had military and police tactical training. They put you through high stress shoot don't shoot scenarios and I've seen seasoned men not be able to hit the target when the adrenaline kicks in. The bad guy died from a gunshot wound to the head and chest. I'm sure that's where he was aiming, good shooting, no bystanders injured, goodguy 1, badguy 0. cooldude

In the United States, a civilian may legally use deadly force when it is considered justifiable homicide, that is to say when the civilian feels their own life, or the lives of their family or those around them are in legitimate and imminent danger. However, self-defense resulting in usage of deadly force by a civilian or civilians against an individual or individuals is often subject to examination by a court if it is unclear whether it was necessary at the point of the offense, and whether any further action on the part of the law needs to be taken.
I think if you are a customer and someone comes in to rob the place and they have a weapon I would feel that my life is in danger and I have every and all right to protect myself and others around me. Hell yeah, if I had a gun I would pull it and USE it. I would not try to talk to the perp or dis arm them just shoot them. That would be my way to dis arm them. One to the head and one to the chest is a sure fire way to make sure no one around you or any family members get hurt. Just my 2 cents cooldude

The customer with the legal weapon should get a Good Citizen Award or Medal of Honor. I hope he's legally protected in SC. Sadly, I doubt that would be the case in some other areas of the country.

Don't know the law in SC, but since some one died during the commission of a felony, his accomplice could be guilty of murder.  What do you schysters say?
