Got a chance to ride to Palomar with these guys today, great trip.  We met in Temecula for a ride to Palomar Observatory and then for lunch.  Because of my work schedule I don't get to ride with them that frequently, but a great group of guys and lady today.  it was interesting to see about 100 HDs meeting at the same time and place as us for a "charity ride".

Stopped for warm up coffee and hot chocolate.

11 bikes, 10 Valks and one HD.  Nice ride through mtns up to 5500'.  Palomar Observatory is a privately owned astronomical observatory located in San Diego County, California  in the Palomar Mountain Range. It is owned and operated by the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) located in Pasadena, California. The observatory has a 200-inch telescope that was the most important telescope in the world from 1949 until 1992 when the Keck I telescope (at approximately 10 meters - 387 inches) on Mauna Kea in Hawaii became the world's largest.

Was a FRiGID 42* when I left home today to ride over to meet the group and Dave tells me we were at 42* heading up in mtns.  Warmed up nicely after that.  Glad I could hook up with them again.  There are riders there with lots of experience and a heck of a lot of miles and stories.  It was nice to see all the Valks and mods that different riders have.  Gives me incentive.  Smiley

Good day!   By the time I met the group, took our ride and returned home I got in about 240 miles almost all through mtn roads for me.  Thumbs up to Bigmac (Dave) for his work with this group and organizing things.  cooldude

Unfortunately I just found out one of our brothers was killed on his way home from this ride. His name was Jimmy and posted as Valkimo. I have no details at this time but, I will post as they become available. He was a great guy, a true friend and would help anybody. He missed the December ride because his grandkids came for Christmas. Gone way too soon. I am completely at a loss for words. The So. Cal. Group lost a brother in February last year too. Too many.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. We'll say a prayer for him and his family. Always hate to hear of sich a tragic ending.
