I'm sure that BHO can read at a higher level, but he doesn't believe the American people would understand. You know, because like most politicians, he thinks he's smarter than we are.

Does that include the time he spent AWOL?  Also, I spent 5 years in the Navy and was involved in picking up pieces of some of these smart guys toys.  Talked to a few also. While they are definitely not imbeciles, some of them were not the sharpest knives in the drawer.  They did all have big balls though...

So was Jimmy Carter.

But they were not viewed as successful presidents.

But Barrack Hussein Obama is not a good pres, not enough exp. and by the way he is not a good man.

They only say Bush wasn't smart because he's not.

Spend some time around pilots and you'll see that they range from brilliant to not very smart at all. I used to be very impressed with pilots before I got to know them. Then you see the routinely do things like; start APU's in crowded hangars with the doors closed, do engine runs with the exhaust pointed right at a pair of 5000 gallon jet fuel tanks (right in front of big, red signs that say "NO ENGINE RUNS IN FUEL FARM"), forget to take the gear pins out, do crap like this...

GW flew a F106 high altitude interceptor for the Alabama Air National Guard, a plane designed to intercept high altitude soviet bombers during the cold war.  Hence no call up for the Vietnam war. Some think guard duty was like dodging the draft during that conflict.  A classmate in high school of mine was killed in Nam piloting a fighter jet, He was an Air National guard pilot. Neither he or GW should be compared to draft dodgers, just pilots serving thier country.  Clinton?  Now that was a draft dodger. He traveled to USSR during that conflict.   Angry  Hoser 
Oh, and I was in Texas, maintaining air craft for Navy pilot trainees.  My younger brother was on a flattop off Vietnam, and my older brother was tracking soviet subs in the Atlantic Ocean. Don't mess with the Vets.

Bush is not a combat Vet.

And I believe the AWOL comment was made regarding the rumors that Bush was actually AWOL during a period when he was supposed to be drilling/active.

Gingrich received deferment after deferment and Cheney had "other priorities". Draft dodgers?

I don't believe I accused him of being a combat vet.  Just the opposite in fact. He did not get called up, perhaps because of not flying a suitable aircraft. I am not a combat vet either.  Just a vet.  Had a little combat in Texas once in a while, but that don't count.  Grin  Hoser  ???

I was at NAS Corpus, VT-31, S2F twin engine recip.  AE rate. 1965-68  I visited the Lex a couple times during the period.  Visited Reynosa a few times too.  Wouldn't do that today on a bet!  Anchors away, swabbie!  Hoser cooldude

We also took a couple of cat shots off the boat in one to get back to base early cause the other choice was to ride the boat back to Florida. The cat shots were something I'll always remember. The landing was very short and powerful.

The landing was very short and powerful.

I never got lucky enough to get shot off. Did 4 cable landings and many, many helo landings and take-offs including a landing on a DDG in the pacific then sailed into Pearl.

  My first cat shot scared the hell out of me. We set there on the hook with both engines running wide open and the whole plane shaking like a dog passing a peach seed. The noise level was very loud. Then the holdback let loose and off we went as soon as the plane was released all the shaking and rattling quit and the noise was gone. I thought for a moment we had lost power but it was just because we were airborn and all the power was being used.

I recall folks saying McCain wasnt competant because he couldnt use a keyboard.
Something about both broken arms not healing right as a POW.
He could, however, land an A-4 Skyhawk on a carrier.
Not here to relight that fire however.
I've landed on a Carrier and taken off inna F-4. I was a Photographer's Mate in the 70/80's.
Most awesome.
As with most college types, some are worthy, some are educated beyond their intelligence.
