I read somewhere one of those spanked a Rocket III. Have no idea how bad, or if actually true....just read it, didn't see any proof. First thing I'd do is lose those stupid mini-apes so I have some good control.

I dig the mini apes, I would just lean them back a little more.  I'm 6'4" and need the height in the bars.  Before I swapped out the bars on the Valkyrie for mini apes I was getting a lot of neck and shoulder pain.  Now I can ride longer before I start to fatigue.  There is also very little pullback so they are like a combination of drag bars and apes.

There is 4.5" of ground clearance, Clarence.  As opposed to 5" on most other bikes.

1700 something cc's and over 100 lb/ft torque and six speed tranny, about 150 lbs lighter......it just might beat the valkyrie, maybe not a blown one, though.

If I were in the market for a new motorcycle, I'd go straight to a Victory dealer and get a white Cross Country Tour. I like the bike, the company and that they're American made.

It might, but one never knows till ya try,  I only tryed one, and I beat him.  It was that big ugly one that looks like Bozo the clown.  I left him when I shifted to 5th at about 100, maybe he didn't want to go that fast. We rolled on at about 45 on I70, I was in 3rd. ??? Valkyries don't too bad in torque numbers.  Hoser

You say you're 6'4".  Does that bike fit you?

I'm 6'2".  That's one of the major reasons I bought a Valk....because it fit me.  I love Harleys, but I haven't found one that I can sit on without feeling cramped.

I've been curious about the Victorys, but I've never checked them out or sat on any.

Test rode several Victory's back in the summer.

Most of them left me "Unimpressed".

But if I were in the market for a kick around bike a Victory Hammer would definitely be on my "Short List".

The Victory XC Tour is a good looking bike, but that Victory Vision just doesn't do it for me.  I'm not a fan of the space shuttle look.

I agree, but "to each his own".

One thing that strikes me really weird about the Victorys is the excessively long cylinders.  To me it just doesn't look proportioned.

I'm not a fan of mini-apes either (I actually like the look but don't care for the control feel) but that Victory engine is really, really powerful and the bikes are nice. If it fits you and it functions as you ask and turns your crank then what's not to like?

Not all of the Victory's felt powerful.

The Cross Country and the Vision didn't impress me with power.

Now the Hammer was a different story, when you roll back the throttle it will put a wide grin on your face.

Even the factory rep at the event where I rode the Victory's couldn't explain why the Hammer had so much more power.  He said that it might be because the Hammer was lighter. But right after riding the Hammer I rode a stripped down Kingpin and it couldn't hold a candle to the Hammer.

The guy riding the Hammer when I rode the Kingpin took off from a stop and I couldn't even stay close and I was well into the rev limiter trying.

its funny to me that when some post dyno runs that the max torque and max hp are only for about 500 rpms then it falls back off..

I agree, neither a Valk, unless it was supercharged, or any Victory would touch a Rocket III.  If I had one, it would be the Tour model, though.  Hoser

That's the main reason to run a dyno run, to find out what the rpm is at maximum torque, so you can shift at that rpm.  Keep it in the power range, so the saying goes. There's more to drag racing than slammin gears at red line.   Wink  Hoser

Would this be the one of which you speak? It does look like you could stuff several mini clowns in that trunk.

This was taken out at Cook's Corner in the Trabuco Canyon area in So Cal. Stopped off for lunch and this definitely had everyones attention. Reminded me a lot of when the Valk first came out (attention-wise only). Not my taste personally.

Victory's are a great motorcycles. I was convinced when I test rode them last april. My wife & I were so impressed we bought one for each of us, her a Vegas last June, and me a Cross Country, 2 weeks ago.  IMO they are the sexiest bikes on the road. Sure they're V-Twins, but what's wrong with that?

Little Z's Vegas

(and yes, she is faster than Valks)

Cross Country

(identical to mine, don't have pics of mine yet)

It's nice having 2 new steeds in the stable.

BTW, There's nothing like a Valkyrie. Going to keep the Valk for now, maybe customize it in the future.

The only v-twin that even slightly interests me is the M109 Suzuki.
And I'm not REAL interested in it. As far as companies go....I'd much
rather have a Victory than a harley. YMMV.

Agree....If I bought a two-lunger tomorrow it would be a Suzuki M109R I've always liked those bikes.According to LaMonster the one below is one of the baddest on the planet.

As another former R3 owner I must definitely second or third this motion.
From what I've seen & heard among the V-twin herd of big cruisers only the M109 has a prayer of besting a Rocket 3. This of course is off the showroom floor. The torque of the R3 is beyond belief!
There is this thing called the "Rocket grin".  Evil Twist the throttle on one & you'll understand.  Cool

Unless you wait for the trumpet to break down, which they do with anoying regularity. Been there done that never again. I like the Victory cross country and if you are a tall rider they fit much better than the valk. In fact price was the main reason I bought my interstate. I am happy with my choice but its replacement will be a CC eventually.

We think the Vics are nice bikes and the XRoad and XCountry in particular have strong visual appeal.  We looked closely at the XRoads SE recently and came away much impressed.  Would dearly love to test ride one.

However, like some others here, we would be surprised (verily, astonished) if the Vic VTwin can  "spank" a Rocket III in any sort of speed contest.  In a show of power and speed, few cruisers can match the RIII, we think.

We trudge on.

I traded the Valk for a X-Country and really like the bike. If I was to do it again I would look into the X-Country Tour. All the sharp edges on the XC cause some helmet shake that the lowers on the Tour address. As far as power, it is a low end bike and the Valk came on higher in the RPMs. The XC is alot lighter going slow. With the six speed and design of the engine it will not shake your teeth out. With a Valk it is getting harder to get aftermarket bling, with Victory the aftermarket is not good either, new bike and Victory seems to keep tight controls on who sells their stuff.
As to the Hammer having more power I know Victory puts different cams in some models to step them up a bit, my son's Vegas will outrun the XC I have and I was told it was the cam.
